Al Amerat Cricket Stadium
Oman Cricket Academy Ground, also known as the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium, is a cricket ground in Muscat, Oman. The ground is owned by the Oman Cricket Board. In January 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) gave accreditation for the Ministry Turf 1 at the stadium to host Test cricket. History In July 2008, Oman Cricket announced plans to construct an international-standard facility at Al Amarat, about 15 kilometres south-east of the centre of the city of Muscat. The cost of the project was initially estimated at 2 million Omani rials (US$5.2 million), with the land donated by the Ministry of Sports Affairs and the rest of the funding to be raised through corporate sponsorship. The venue, known as the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium, was inaugurated in October 2012, by Ashraful Haque, the chief executive of the Asian Cricket Council. Jatinder Singh (born 5 March 1989) is an Indian-born cricketer who plays for the Oman national cricket team. He made his debut for the Omani national side at the 2011 World Cricket League Division Three tournament. He is a right-handed top-order batsman. Early life Singh was born on 5 March 1989 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. He is a member of the Ramgarhia carpenter caste within the Sikh community. His father Gurmail Singh immigrated to Oman in 1975 to work for the Royal Oman Police as a carpenter. He moved to Oman in 2003 with his mother Paramjeet Kaur and three siblings, attending the Indian School, Muscat. Craig George Williams (born 25 February 1984) is a Namibian cricketer. He also currently runs a cricket shop in Namibia and also works as a quality/quantity surveyor writing reports for insurance companies as well as loss adjusting. He also opened a cricket academy in Windhoek which is also eventually regarded as Namibia's first state of the art indoor training facility. 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup
The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the seventh ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, with the matches played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from 17 October to 14 November 2021. The West Indies were the defending champions, but were eventually eliminated in the Super 12 stage. Originally the event was scheduled to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November 2020, but in July 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that this tournament had been postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2020, the ICC confirmed that India would host the 2021 tournament as planned, with Australia being named as the host for the succeeding 2022 tournament. 2020 Asia Cup Qualifier
The 2022 Asia Cup Qualifier was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup (which was originally scheduled to be played in 2020). The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern Region T20 tournaments were held in February and March 2020 by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), with thirteen teams competing in total (eight in the Western event and five in the Eastern event) with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020, the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the Qualifier.
