Al-Suwaiq
Al-Suwaiq Club ( ar, نادي السويق) is an Omani sports club based in Al-Suwaiq. The club is currently playing in the Oman Professional League, top division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Al-Seeb Stadium. The stadium is government owned, but they also own their own personal stadium and sports equipment, as well as their own training facilities. History The club was founded on 28 February 1972 and was registered on 26 June 2002. Support Al-Suwaiq Club enjoys a large fan support which differentiates the club from the other clubs in the country by its unique way of cheering. Being a multisport club Although being mainly known for their football, Al-Suwaiq Club like many other clubs in Oman, have not only football in their list, but also hockey, volleyball, handball, basketball, badminton and squash. 2010–11 Oman Mobile League
The 2010–11 Omani League (known as the ''Oman Mobile League'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 35th edition of the top football league in Oman. It began on 1 November 2010 and finished on 30 April 2011. Al-Suwaiq Club were the defending champions, having won the previous 2009–10 Oman Mobile League season. On Saturday, 30 April 2011, Al-Suwaiq Club won 0–3 away in their final league match against Al-Nasr S.C.S.C. and emerged as the champions of the 2010–11 Oman Mobile League with a total of 43 points. Teams This season the league had 12 teams. Al-Khaboura SC and Al-Seeb Club were relegated to the Second Division League after finishing the relegation zone in the 2009–10 season. 2008 Sultan Qaboos Cup
The 2008 Sultan Qaboos Cup was the 36th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Cup ( ar, كأس السلطان قابوس), the premier knockout tournament for football teams in Oman. The competition began on 26 August 2008 with the Group Stage and concluded on 15 December 2008. Sur SC were the defending champions, having won their third title in 2007. On Monday 15 December 2008, Al-Suwaiq Club were crowned the champions of the 2008 Sultan Qaboos Cup when they defeated Al-Nahda Club 1–0, hence winning the title for the first time. The 2009–10 Omani League (known as the ''Oman Mobile League'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 34th edition of the top football league in Oman. It began on 12 September 2009 and finished on 7 May 2010. Al-Nahda Club were the defending champions, having won the previous 2008–09 Oman League season. On Friday, 7 May 2010, Al-Suwaiq Club played out a 1–1 draw away in their final league match against Al-Nasr S.C.S.C. and emerged as the champions of the 2009–10 Oman Mobile League with a total of 44 points. Oman Professional League
The Oman Professional League ( ar, دوري المحترفين عمان; known as the ''Omantel Professional League'' for sponsorship reasons), previously known as the Omantel Elite League, is the top division of the Oman Football Association, and was officially created in 1976. Currently the most successful team in the league is Dhofar with a total of eleven titles to their name. Evolution to a professional league In 2010, during the annual draw for the Sultan Qaboos Cup, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman, granted the OFA an annual 2.6 million rial (approximately 6.7 million dollars) till the year 2015 to further boost the development of the league. The move was made to nurture Oman's football youth, and create higher hopes of Oman qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 2012–13 Oman Elite League (known as the ''Omantel Elite League'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 37th edition of the top football league in Oman. It began on 4 October 2012 and was scheduled to finish on 19 May 2013, but for the second season running, the league title had to be decided by a playoff. Fanja SC were the defending champions, having won the previous 2011–12 Elite League season. On Wednesday, 22 May 2013, Al-Suwaiq Club won the Championship Final match against Fanja 3–1 and emerged as the champions of the 2012–13 Oman Elite League. Oman Super Cup
The Oman Super Cup ( ar, كأس السوبر العماني) is an Omani football cup competition. It was first held in 1999, but has been played on and off since its inception. It is the curtain raiser to the Omani football season. It pairs the previous season's Sultan Qaboos Cup winners against the Oman Professional League champions. The Sultan Qaboos Cup ( ar, كأس السلطان قابوس), also known as the HM's Cup, is Oman's premier knockout tournament for men's football. It was officially created in 1972 and the champions of that edition were Al-Ahli. Shortly known as Oman cup. Currently the most successful club in the league is Dhofar with a total of ten titles to their name, with the latest win at the 2020-2021 season. The 2014 AFC Champions League was the 33rd edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 12th under the current AFC Champions League title. Football Clubs Of Oman
The Sultanate of Oman has had a relatively long history of football clubs dating back to the 1940s. The oldest club still surviving to date in the Sultanate is Oman Club which was established in 1942. Many clubs have also experienced mergers such as Muscat, and Seeb. There are currently 43 clubs known to Oman. Dhofar is known as the most successful club in Omani football earning them the nickname, "''Al-Zaeem'', or "The Leaders" due to them holding 10 Omani League titles; the most won by a club, and winning 7 Sultan Qaboos Cups, as well as reaching the final of the Gulf Club Champions Cup once in 1996 losing to Saudi club Al-Nassr.
