Al-Hilla Sport Club ( ar, نادي الحلة الرياضي), is an Iraqi football team based in Al-Hilla, Babil, that plays in Iraq Division Three. History Al-Hilla Sports Club was established in 1964, the team played for the first time in the Iraqi Premier League at the 1975–76 season, the team ended their first season in tenth place and was able to continue playing in the league, and their results were not good, as it won five matches, drawing seven, and lost 12. The team played their second season, the 1976–77 season, in the league very badly and their results were disastrous, as it could not win any match, drawing three and lost all other matches, and finished in last place at the end of the season, but they were fortunate because that the Football Association decided not to relegate any club, which allowed the team to play a third season in the league. Iraqi Premier League
The Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز) is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA) and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraq Division One. The league was formed by the IFA in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs First Division, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq. The current format sees 20 teams playing 38 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away), totalling 380 matches in the season. The 1975–76 Iraqi National Clubs First Division was the 2nd season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. Newly-promoted club Al-Zawraa, founded in 1969, won the league title and also won the Iraq FA Cup to complete the first national double in Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa's squad included many of the players that played for Al-Naqil in the 1974–75 season, a club that folded due to financial difficulties after finishing as league runners-up that campaign. 1976–77 Iraqi National League
The 1976–77 Iraqi National Clubs First Division was the 3rd season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. Due to scheduling difficulties, the season had to be cut short during round 18 of 22, with several postponed games from previous rounds. The Iraq Football Association decided to annul the results from the second half of the season, using the league table at the halfway stage of the campaign (when each team had played each other once) as the final standings, and crowned Al-Zawraa as the champions for their second consecutive league title. Al-Zawraa lost one of their four games from the second half of the season 3–2 against Al-Baladiyat, and Al-Jamiea lost one of their games in the second half of the season 3–2 against Al-Zawraa, but because the second half of the season was annulled, Al-Zawraa and Al-Jamiea both finished the season without a single loss. Iraq Division One
The Iraq Division One is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Premier League. The league is contested by 24 clubs. It is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Division One are automatically promoted to the Premier League. The four lowest-finishing teams in the Division One are relegated to Division Two. The 1999–2000 Iraq FA Cup was the 23rd edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a clubs-only competition. The tournament was won by Al-Zawraa for the third time in a row and the 14th time in their history, beating Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya 4–3 on penalties in the final after a 0–0 draw.
