Aksu Canyon
Aksu Canyon (also known as ''Aqsý shatqaly'') is a canyon on the Aksu River in Kazakhstan. The canyon is 15 km long and 500m deep canyon and located in southern Kazakhstan in the Turkistan region in the north-west of the Tian Shan mountain range and east of the outskirts of one-million-people city Shymkent. Aksu Canyon is one of the largest canyons in Central Asia and beside the Sharyn Canyon one of the most popular canyons in Kazakhstan. It has an alpine character with nearby mountains reaching over 4000m. Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve
The Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve ( kz, Ақсу-Жабағылы қорығы, ''Aqsu-Jabağyly Qoryğy''; russian: Aксу-Жабаглинский заповедник, ''Aksu-Zhabaglinskiy zapovednik'') is the oldest nature reserve in Central Asia. It is located in the southern province of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It covers the north-western mountain chains of the Tian Shan. Its name is derived from the biggest river in the area, the Aksu, and the mountain chain Zhabagly which is located in the northern part of the area. Canyon
A canyon (from ; archaic British English spelling: ''cañon''), or gorge, is a deep cleft between escarpments or cliffs resulting from weathering and the erosion, erosive activity of a river over geologic time scales. Rivers have a natural tendency to cut through underlying surfaces, eventually wearing away rock layers as sediments are removed downstream. A river bed will gradually reach a baseline elevation, which is the same elevation as the body of water into which the river drains. Sharyn Canyon
Charyn Canyon (also known as Sharyn Canyon, kk, Шарын шатқалы, ''Sharyn shatqaly'') is a canyon on the Sharyn River in Kazakhstan ( east of Almaty, close to the Chinese border). The canyon is roughly in length. It is part of the Charyn National Park (established on 23 February 2004), and is located within the territory of the Uygur District, Raiymbek District and Enbekshikazakh District (of the Almaty Province).
