''Akseli and Elina'' ( fi, Akseli ja Elina) is a 1970 Finnish drama film directed by Edvin Laine. It was entered into the 7th Moscow International Film Festival. The film is based on the third volume of Väinö Linna's novel trilogy ''Under the North Star''. It's a sequel to the 1968 film ''Here, Beneath the North Star'' which was based on the two first volumes of the trilogy. Edvin Laine
Edvin Laine (13 July 1905 – 18 November 1989) was a Finnish film director. Laine was born Bovellán. Laine directed a comedy '' Aaltoska orkaniseeraa'' and family film ''Sleeping Beauty'', both in 1949. '' The Unknown Soldier'', a film Laine directed in 1955 based on Väinö Linna's novel, was a big sensation in Finland. There have later been two other film adaptations of the same novel but Laine's version remains the best known. Laine also directed another film based on Väinö Linna's book, ''Here, Beneath the North Star'' (1968), which also was a successful movie in Finland. His 1958 film ''Sven Tuuva the Hero'' was entered into the 9th Berlin International Film Festival. Kauko Helovirta
Kauko Kustaa Helovirta (Hellström, 21 October 1924, Juupajoki – 13 September 1997, Helsinki, Finland) was a Finnish film actor. Helovirta entered film in 1950 and made about 40 Finnish films between then and 1995. Jussi Jurkka
Jussi Tapani Jurkka (15 June 1930 – 9 April 1982) was a Finnish actor. He was born into a family of actors. His parents, Eino Jurkka and Emmi Jurkka, were theatre leaders and actors. Also his brother Sakari Jurkka and sister Vappu Jurkka worked as actors, and so did his cousins Rauli Tuomi and Liisa Tuomi. During his career, Jurkka appeared in 32 films, such as ''Morsiusseppele'' (1954), '' The Unknown Soldier'' (1955) and '' Punainen viiva'' (1959). In television, he appeared in a sketch comedy show ''Parempi myöhään...'' (1979–1980) with Pentti Siimes and Ritva Valkama. Personal life Jussi Jurkka was married to Maikki Länsiö. Matti Helge Ranin (21 November 1926 – 24 November 2013) was a Finnish actor. Ranin had an extensive career in film. He was in his prime as film-actor in the 1950s and 60s, most famously playing Captain Kariluoto in an Edvin Laine film '' The Unknown Soldier''. Esa Saario (born 22 November 1931) is a Finnish actor. He started studying in Helsinki Theatre Academy in 1956. The headmaster of the academy, Wilho Ilmari, and other teachers allowed Saario to skip one year of school due to Saario's giftedness. Saario ended up graduating in only two years. Career Saario worked as an actor for the Finnish National Theatre from 1958 until his retirement in 1997. The first role he played was in 1954 and the last in 2001. Saario performed in over 200 different roles during his career. Some of his most memorable roles on stage were Orgon in ''Tartuffe'', Malcolm in ''Macbeth'', actor/priest in ''Hamlet'' and Amiens in ''As You Like It''.
