Akoko Edo is a Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is in the town of Igarra. It has an area of 1,371 km and a population of 262,110 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 312. As of 2016, its population density is 249.9/km 016/small> History Akoko Edo is a community that consist of different and distinct parts of group each one maintaining its individualized identity with historic pride and enduring posture. It is said that the earliest settlers of Akoko Edo were the Yoruba who would have been there the same period the Etsako people moved from Oyo during the reign (1483-1504). Other migrating people, due to the fortunes of time, came into the area from Nupe to make Benin city the spill-over of the Ekiti people known as Ado-Ekiti, moved into this area from the West. Kwara State
Kwara State ( yo, Ìpínlẹ̀ Kwárà), is a state in Western Nigeria, bordered to the east by Kogi State, to the north by Niger state, and to the south by Ekiti, Osun, and Oyo states, while its western border makes up part of the international border with Benin Republic. Okpe
Okpe is a kingdom in Delta State, Nigeria. Today, it is also the name of a local government area. It is one of the many kingdoms that make up Urhobo tribe. Its capital is Orerokpe. The kingdom plays host to the Osubi Airport (also known as Warri Airstrip), which is actually located at Osubi and the Delta State Trade Fair Complex. The Orodje celebrated ten years on ancestral throne. Geoffrey Arich is the king of Okpe Kingdom, Kenyan Branch. The kingship is usually rotated between the four ruling houses. Lampese
Lampese is a town in Akoko Edo Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria, located along Ibillo – Abuja highway. The town is a gate way town to both Afemai people, Afemai and Edo State from the Kogi State, Kogi axis, as it is a boundary town between Edo State and Kogi State. History Lampese is believed to have been founded by a man named Ekpese, a descendant of the ancient Oba of Benin kingdom who migrated from the ancient Kingdom of Benin, Benin kingdom to settle in the present day Lampese. Ekpese is said to have given birth to nine children who later formed the nine quarters in Lampese. The quarters therefore reflects the names of these nine children Of Ekpese. These nine quarters in Lampese are: Afemi, Aforo, Afugbemi, Agba, Akusumemi, Ayusha, Ikpakumu, Ilekpi, and Izazi. Somorika
Somorika (formerly known as Wavo) is a town located about five kilometres North-East of Igarra in the Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. Description The town speaks Okpamheri language, Okpameri Language. The town is divided into three quarters which are; 1. Oyinokara 2. Igeni 3. Oyenovo The community has a shrine called Ulokuaigbe Shrine that was established in 1955 to solve spiritual problems of the indigenes and strangers. The major doctrine preached in the shrine is the principle of ''“love your neighbour as yourself and do unto others as you want others do to you”''. People travel from all over the world to seek the town’s ancestral powers. To get to the town you have to climb seven hills. Ibillo is one of the largest town situated in the Akoko-Edo local government area in Edo State in Nigeria. Ibillo is surrounded by several neighboring towns/villages including Ikiran Oke, Imoga, Ekpesa and Lampese which are all part of the Twenty two communities said to make up the Okpameri group, all within the Akoko Edo local government area with the LGA headquarters in Igarra.
