Akku Akbar (also referred as Akbar Jose) is an Indian film director of Malayalam films. He shot to fame with the 2009 blockbuster film ''Veruthe Oru Bharya'', which had a family theme. He later remade his Bollywood film ''Gauri: The Unborn'' in Malayalam as ''Kana Kanmani (film), Kana Kanmani'' (2009). ''Bharya Athra Pora'' is a 2013 Malayalam family film directed by Akku Akbar, starring Jayaram and Gopika in the lead roles. The cast and crew of 2008 film '' Veruthe Oru Bharya'' came together to make the film, although it is not a sequel to the first film. The film was a commercial success. Asianet Film Awards
The Asianet Film Awards is an award ceremony for films presented annually by Asianet, a Malayalam-language television network from the south-Indian state of Kerala. Asianet says that awards ceremony has been instituted to honour both artistic and technical excellence in the Malayalam language film industry. The awards ceremony was co-sponsored by Johnson & Johnson in the year 1998 later Lux took up the sponsorship in the next 5 years. Then Jiva soap in 2004 and then Ujala for many years. From 2016, function is sponsored by Nirapara. Bhima Jewellers took the title sponsor in 2018 event. The function is normally held in Kochi , Angamaly and Thiruvananthapuram cities in Kerala. ''Vellaripravinte Changathi'' (''The Dove's Friend'') is a 2011 Malayalam film directed by Akku Akbar, starring Dileep and Kavya Madhavan in the lead roles. The film is loosely based on the famous Sulekha murder case. Plot Vellaripravinte Changathi is based on the story of film-maker Augustine Joseph who made a Malayalam film in 1966. However, due to some reasons, the film did not make it to the theatres. The 1960s-70s was a period dominated by Prem Nazir, Sathyan, Sheela and others. Unluckily Augustine Joseph was not able to get the film released. Later he commits suicide due to the debts from the production of the film.
