Akiko Kamei
is a Japanese politician of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, and a member of the House of Representatives. She is a former member of People's New Party and of the House of Councillors. A native of Tokyo and graduate of Gakushuin University and Carleton University, she was elected for the first time in 2007 in the Shimane at-large district. Her father Hisaoki Kamei was a veteran member of the House of Representatives. She is married. Kamei contested the Shimane 1st district in 2017 election. The is the upper house of the National Diet of Japan. The House of Representatives is the lower house. The House of Councillors is the successor to the pre-war House of Peers. If the two houses disagree on matters of the budget, treaties, or designation of the prime minister, the House of Representatives can insist on its decision. In other decisions, the House of Representatives can override a vote of the House of Councillors only by a two-thirds majority of members present. The House of Councillors has 248 members who each serve six-year terms, two years longer than those of the House of Representatives. The is a method used in the proportional representation (PR) constituencies ("blocks") for the Japanese House of Representatives of Japan, House of Representatives to determine the order of candidates placed on the same list position by their party. Under the PR system introduced in the 1996 general election for 180 (initially 200) of the House of Representatives' 480 (initially 500) seats, political parties are free to nominate candidates running or not running concurrently in one of the 300 single-member first-past-the-post electoral districts. Hiroyuki Hosoda
is a Japanese politician who has served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan since November 2021. He is also a member of the House of Representatives since 1990, and served as Chief Cabinet Secretary in Junichiro Koizumi's Cabinet from 2004 to 2005, and as Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party from 2008 to 2009. Early life Hosoda was born in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture on April 5, 1944. He graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Tokyo, and worked at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry from 1967 to 1986, serving as Director of the Washington Office of Japan National Oil Corporation from 1983 to 1985, and as Director of the Price Policy Division in the Industrial Policy Bureau from 1985 to 1986.
