Akeem Jerome King (born August 29, 1992) is an American football cornerback who is a free agent. He played college football at San Jose State and was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Early life and college playing career Born in Visalia, California, King graduated from Nipomo High School in 2010. King lettered in football, track, and basketball at Nipomo High and played three offensive positions (fullback, wide receiver, and tight end) and two defensive positions (cornerback and linebacker). A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. The 2015 NFL Draft was the 80th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. It took place in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre and in Grant Park, from April 30 to May 2. The previous fifty NFL drafts (since 1965) had been held in New York City. The 2012 Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman was a post-season American college football bowl game held on December 27, 2012, at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C. The fifth edition of the Military Bowl began at 3:00 p.m. EST and was shown on ESPN. It was between the San Jose State Spartans from the Western Athletic Conference and the Bowling Green Falcons from the Mid-American Conference and was the final game of the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season for both teams. The Spartans accepted their invitation after earning a 10–2 record in the regular season, while the Falcons accepted after earning an 8–4 record on theirs.
