Akbar Djuraev
Akbar Djuraev (born 8 October 1999) is an Uzbekistani weightlifter, Olympic Champion and Junior World Champion. He won the gold medal in the men's 109kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He also won the gold medal in the men's 109kg event at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He competed in the 105 kg category until 2018, and the 102 kg and 109 kg categories starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. He holds the junior world record in the snatch and total in the 102 kg division, as well as the snatch, clean & jerk and total in the 109 kg division. Ashgabat
Ashgabat or Asgabat ( tk, Aşgabat, ; fa, عشقآباد, translit='Ešqābād, formerly named Poltoratsk ( rus, Полтора́цк, p=pəltɐˈratsk) between 1919 and 1927), is the capital and the largest city of Turkmenistan. 2017 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Anaheim, California, United States from 28 November to 5 December 2017. Doping bans Nine countries were banned from competing at the World Championships due to their history of doping at previous Olympic Games, under International Weightlifting Federation rules stating that any country that had three positive tests uncovered by the International Olympic Committee during re-testing of stored urine samples for banned substances from the 2008 and 2012 Olympics would be banned. The banned countries were: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan. Boycott North Korea and Venezuela boycotted the World Championships due to the crises in relations between the United States and these countries. This is the list of Olympic records in weightlifting. Records are maintained in each weight class for the snatch lift, clean and jerk lift, and the total for both lifts.
