Akademik Svishtov
OFC Akademik Svishtov ( bg, ОФК Академик Свищов) is a Bulgarian association football club based in Svishtov who play in the North-West Third League, the third tier of Bulgarian football. It plays its home matches at Akademik stadium with a capacity of 13,500 seats, and its team colours are blue and white. Akademik have spent four seasons in the Bulgarian first division in the past, the last time being the 1986–87 season. History Akademik was founded on 10 November 1949, on general assembly of the D.A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov. Akademik's first president was professor Velislav Gavriyski. In 1975–76 season, the club won B PFG title and with it gained promotion to the A PFG for the first time in its history. Svishtov
Svishtov ( bg, Свищов ) is a town in northern Bulgaria, located in Veliko Tarnovo Province on the right bank of the Danube river opposite the Romanian town of Zimnicea. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Svishtov Municipality. The town is the second-largest in the province after the city of Veliko Tarnovo and before Gorna Oryahovitsa. Name The origins of the name Svishtov can be found in its old Bulgarian variation Sveshtniy (Свѣщний), deriving from the word ''svesht'' or ''svyasht'' (свѣщ), meaning "candle". This was due to the existence of a lighthouse in the city. The previous name Sistova was first mentioned in the peace treaty that ended the Austro-Turkish War in 1791, when Bulgaria was still under Ottoman rule. PFC Marek Dupnitsa
FC Marek ( bg, ФК Марек) is a Bulgarian football club based in Dupnitsa, currently playing in the Third League, the third level of the Bulgarian football league system. It was founded in 1947 following the unification of four local clubs. Home matches take place at Bonchuk Stadium, where Marek famously defeated Bayern Munich in 1977. Bonchuk stadium has a capacity of 16,000. The team last played top-flight football during the 2014–15 season. Marek's greatest achievement is winning the 1978 Bulgarian Cup. PFC Slavia Sofia ( bg, ПФК Славия София) is a Bulgarian professional association football club based in Sofia, which currently competes in the top tier of the Bulgarian football league system, the First League.
