Ajith Mannapperuma
Ajith Mannapperuma (Born 25 July 1963) is a Sri Lankan politician. A current Member of Parliament from Gampaha District, he was a former state minister of Mahaveli Development and Environment. Education Educated at Holy Cross College, Gampaha; Bandaranayake College and Ananda College; he graduated from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa and became a Civil Engineer. And also He ranked island 9th in Advance Level exam in year 1982 in math stream and entered to University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. He is a prestigious alumni from University of Moratuwa. Political career Mannapperuma joined the United National Party and entered local government politics. He served as the first mayor of Gampaha from 2002 to 2009, before being elected to the Western Provincial Council in 2009. Gampaha
Gampaha (Sinhala: ගම්පහ ; Tamil: கம்பஹா ) is an urban city in Gampaha District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is situated to the north-east of the capital Colombo. It is the sixth largest urban area in Western Province, after Colombo, Negombo, Kalutara, Panadura and Avissawella. Gampaha is also the second largest municipal centre in Gampaha district, after Negombo. Gampaha has a land area of and is home to the offices of 75 government institutions. Namesake The name "Gampaha" in Sinhala (ගම්පහ) literally means “Five Villages”. The five villages are known to be Ihalagama, Pahalagama, Medagama, Pattiyagama and Aluthgama. E01 Expressway (Sri Lanka)
The Southern Expressway ( si, දක්ෂිණ ලංකා අධිවේගි මාර්ගය, Dakśina Laṃkā adhivēgi mārgaya; ta, தென்னிலங்கை அதிவேக நெடுஞ்சாலை) is Sri Lanka's first E Class highway. The highway links the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Galle, Matara and Hambantota, major cities in the south of the island. The Southern Expressway Project (SEP) was introduced by the Road Development Authority and the Ministry of Highways as far back as late 1980s. The University of Moratuwa undertook an Environment Impact Assessment study in 1996, which was submitted to the government in early 1997. Construction of the highway began in 2003 and completion up to Galle was achieved by November 2011. March 2014 saw the section from Galle to Matara being declared open to the public.
