Ajax Films
Ajax Films was an Australian production company and studio that operated in the 1960s and 1970s. It was crucial to the revival of the Australian film and TV industry in the 1970s because it was involved in many of the early feature films from that era, either as a production partner or provider of facilities. Ajax also produced a large number of documentaries, cartoons and advertisements. It was established by Brian Chirlian, primarily to make TV commercials for the British Tobacco Company in a studio at Argyle Street in Sydney. They eventually expanded to another location at the old Warringah Hall at Neutral Bay, with a second studio at Bondi Junction. This studio had previously been used by Cinesound Productions and Southern International Productions and was where Ajax became involved with feature films, providing facilities for ''They're a Weird Mob'' (1966), among others. National Film And Sound Archive
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984. Cinesound Productions Pty Ltd was an Australian feature film production company, established in June 1931, Cinesound developed out of a group of companies centred on Greater Union Theatres, that covered all facets of the film process, from production, to distribution and exhibition. Cinesound Productions established a film studio as a subsidiary of Greater Union Theatres Pty Ltd based on the Hollywood model. Southern International Productions
Southern International Productions was an Australian film production company established in the 1950s by Lee Robinson and Chips Rafferty. For a few years it was the most prolific film production company in Australia, pioneering international co-productions with France, but a series of box office failures starting with ''Dust in the Sun'' caused it to be liquidated. Rafferty left producing but Lee Robinson later formed another company, Fauna, with actor John McCallum. Robinson and Rafferty later formed another company, Australian Television Enterprises, to make films for TV. This was valued at £250,000. Wilfred John Raymond Lee (27 January 1913 – 15 October 2002) was a British film director, screenwriter, editor, and producer, who directed a number of postwar films on location in Australia for The Rank Organisation. Tony Buckley (born 8 October 1980) is a former Irish rugby union player who played Prop. He was one of the heaviest men playing professional rugby, weighing in at 21 st 10 lbs or 138 kilograms (305 lbs). He wore size 16 boots which had to be custom made for him in Germany.
