Aitor is a Basque masculine given name, created by Agosti Xaho for a Basque ancestral patriarch descending from the Biblical Tubal in his work "The Legend of Aitor" (published in French in the journal ''Ariel'', 1845). Koldo Mitxelena believes that Xaho created it from the Souletin Basque expression ''aitoren semeak'' or ''aitonen semeak'' ("gentry", literally "sons of good fathers" interpreted as "sons of Aitor", ''aita'' meaning "father" and ''on'' meaning "good"Aitor in the Spanish-language .) Augustin Chaho in French or Agosti Xaho in Basque was an important Romantic Basque writer. He was born in Tardets (Atharratze in basque), Soule, French Basqueland on 10 October 1811 and died in Bayonne (Baiona in Basque), Labourd 23 October 1858. He is considered a precursor of left-wing Basque patriotism. It is usually said that he studied in Paris with Charles Nodier. In Paris he developed his esoteric thought. Aitor Tornavaca Fernández (born 24 March 1976), known simply as Aitor, is a Spanish former footballer who played mainly as a left midfielder. He amassed Segunda División totals of 328 games and 16 goals over 11 seasons, representing five clubs, mainly Recreativo de Huelva. Arenas Club de Getxo is a Spanish football club based in the town of Getxo, near Bilbao, in the autonomous community of Basque Country. Aitor Ramos Leniz (born 11 June 1985) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward for Bermeo FT. Club career Ramos was born in Bilbao, Biscay. After playing with modest Basque clubs in his early career (although he was part of Athletic Bilbao's youth system from ages 11 to 14), he joined Bilbao Athletic for the 2007–08 season, with the reserves competing in the Segunda División B.
