Nicaragua
Nicaragua (; ), officially the Republic of Nicaragua (), is the largest country in Central America, bordered by Honduras to the north, the Caribbean to the east, Costa Rica to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Corn Island International Airport is a civil-military public International Airport that serves Great Corn Island on the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua and located in the Island's Downtown area known locally as ''Brig Bay,'' The airport is managed by the state-run Administrative Company of International Airports, more commonly known as the ''EAAI'' given its Spanish name, the ''Empresa Administradora de Aeropuertos Internacionales.'' The Bluefields NDB (ident: CIS) is located at the airport. The runway at the airport is 6,234 ft long, and it is located at an elevation of 18 feet. San Juan De Nicaragua
San Juan de Nicaragua, formerly known as San Juan del Norte or Greytown, is a town and municipality in the Río San Juan Department of Nicaragua. History San Juan del Norte was founded by the Spanish and was a small fort and customs station. Spanish explorers first reached the bay at the mouth of the San Juan River on 24 June (feast day of Saint John the Baptist) 1539 and named it San Juan del Norte (St. John of the North). A garrison was first established in 1541 as San Juan de la Cruz by Nicaraguan governor Rodrigo Contreras. In 1707 and again in 1762, the area was captured by an alliance of Miskitos, Zambos (Afro- Indians), and English. After 1762, settlement of the area began and a 1778 commercial treaty permitted residency of Spaniards. The eastern coast of Nicaragua had long fallen under British influence with the Mosquito Coast being a protectorate from 1740 but the Spanish asserted control over San Juan del Norte after the 1786 Convention of London. Bonanza, Nicaragua () is a town and a municipality in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua. In 1996, the local authorities chose for the first time to vote. Bonanza Municipality has a population of 30,536 (2021 estimate). The majority of the population are of mestiza origin and banana cultivation is important for the economy. Emerald Coast Airport (Spanish: ''Aeropuerto de Costa Esmeralda'') is an international airport west of Tola, a town in the Rivas Department of Nicaragua. The airport was opened on November 15, 2015 at a cost of almost US$13 million. The airport is in the countryside inland from the Pacific coast. There are large hills just north and east of the airport. The runway is aligned with the valley between them. Now the airport operates commercial flights from Costa Rica and Managua but they also get an important number of charters and private flights from all around the world. Rivas (department)
Rivas () is a department of the Republic of Nicaragua. It covers an area of 2,162 km2 and has a population of 183,611 (2021 estimate). The department's capital is the city of Rivas. Overview Rivas is known for its fertile soil and beautiful beaches. Throughout the department, there are many sugar cane, plantain, tobacco, and other crop plantations. The department borders Lake Nicaragua to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The southern part of the department borders with Costa Rica. A small fishermen village, called San Juan del Sur, has turned into a popular tourist attraction because of the great beaches in the area.
