	Airlie, Ontario Airlie is an unincorporated rural community in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. Officially located in Adjala–Tosorontio, Adjala–Tosorontio Township, Airlie has historically been associated with both Mulmur, Ontario, Mulmur Township and the former Tosorontio Township (now Adjala–Tosorontio Township) because it is located on the boundary between both townships. History Airlie was founded in the 1860s. The early settlement was also known as "Bonny-Town" and "Mill Hill". A sawmill located at Airlie enabled it to prosper. A post office opened in 1869, and mail was delivered daily. During the 1870s and 1880s, Airlie had two stores, two blacksmith shops, three sawmills, and 12 houses. The Cherry Hotel was located at Airlie, owned by early settlers, the Cherry family. Two churches were built: St. James Episcopal Church in 1886, and Calvin Presbyterian Church in 1889. picture info	Airlie, Angus Airlie () is a civil parish in the Scottish council area of Angus. It is the seat of the Earl of Airlie, and the location of Airlie Castle. It comprises Craigton of Airlie, Baitland of Airlie and Kirkton of Airlie. There is a standing stone in a field just east of the Baitland; various Pictish and Roman relics (stone coffins etc.) have been uncovered and the primary school is reputed to have been built on the site of an old graveyard. Airlie also contains one of the finest examples of a Pictish souterrain in Scotland, with the carving of a snake clearly visible in the ceiling. Airlie Castle is not currently open to the public, however it is remembered in the song '' The Bonnie Hoose o' Airlie'' which is mentioned in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel ''Kidnapped''. 	Airlie Castle Airlie Castle is a mansion house in the parish of Airlie, Angus, near the junction of the Isla and Melgund rivers, 9 kilometres west of Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland. A castle was built on the site in c. 1432 and was burnt out in 1640, with a mansion house built incorporating and on top of some of the ruins in c. 1792–93, and occupied today. The house and the stables are Category B listed buildings and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland. History King James I of Scotland granted lands to Walter Ogilvy of Lintrathen, Lord High Treasurer of Scotland, in 1432. 	Airlie, Oregon Airlie is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Oregon, United States. The community was named for David Ogilvy, 10th Earl of Airlie of Scotland, who was president of the narrow-gauge Oregonian Railway Company. Airlie was the southern terminus of the railroad. The tracks were later widened to standard gauge and the line was bought by the Southern Pacific Railroad, which removed the Airlie branch by 1929. 	Earl Of Airlie Earl of Airlie is a title of the peerage in Scotland created on 2 April 1639 for James Ogilvy, 7th Lord Ogilvy of Airlie, along with the title “Lord Ogilvy of Alith and Lintrathen.” The title “Lord Ogilvy of Airlie” was then created on 28 April 1491. In 1715, James Ogilvy, son of the 3rd Earl, took part in a Jacobite uprising against the Crown and was therefore punished by being attainted; consequently, after his father's death two years later, he was unable to inherit the title. He was, however, pardoned in 1725. After his death, his brother John was recognised as the Earl; John's son David was also attainted, but later pardoned. Then, a cousin also named David Ogilvy claimed the title suggesting that the previous attainders did not affect his succession, but the House of Lords rejected his claim.
