Air Kasthamandap Pvt. Ltd. was an airline based in Nepal which started operations in 2009. It had its headquarters in Kathmandu and operated scheduled and charter flights and cargo flights in Western Nepal. History Air Kasthamandap started operations in 2009 with two brand new PAC P-750 XSTOL aircraft. In June 2017, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal revoked Air Kasthamandap's Air operator's certificate. Lukla
Lukla ( ne, लुक्ला ) is a small town in the Khumbu Pasanglhamu rural municipality of the Solukhumbu District in the Province No. 1 of north-eastern Nepal. Situated at , it is a popular place for visitors to the Himalayas near Mount Everest to arrive. Although Lukla means ''place with many goats and sheep'', few are found in the area nowadays. Lukla contains a small airport servicing the region, and a variety of shops and lodges catering to tourists and trekkers, providing western-style meals and trail supplies. From Lukla, travellers will take two days to reach the village Namche Bazaar, an altitude acclimatization stop for those continuing on. Kalikot District
Kalikot District ( ne, कालीकोट जिल्ला ), a part of Karnali province, is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. The district, with Manma as its district headquarters, covers an area of , had a population of 105,580 in 2001 and 136,948 in 2011. PAC 750XL
The PAC P-750 XSTOL, (formerly known as the PAC 750XL) is a utility aircraft of conventional all-metal low-wing monoplane design, with fixed tricycle undercarriage. Combining the engine and wings of the PAC Cresco with a new large fuselage and modified tail, all versions to date have been powered by a 750 hp (560 kW) Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop. It is designed and manufactured in Hamilton, New Zealand by Pacific Aerospace Limited. Development The design made its maiden flight in 2001. As with the Cresco, horizontal tail surfaces presented difficulties, and these were redesigned before the type entered production. The PAC 750 received full US FAA certification in 2004. In 2008 the manufacturer stated production was increasing from 12 to 24 per year. In 2008 there was some New Zealand media criticism of government assistance for the manufacturer following cancellation of a large order. 2016 Air Kasthamandap PAC 750XL Crash
On 26 February 2016, an Air Kasthamandap PAC 750XL passenger aircraft with eleven people on board crashed at Chilkhaya in Kalikot district, Nepal, killing the two crew members and injuring all nine passengers on board. The accident occurred just two days after Tara Air Flight 193. Aircraft The aircraft involved in the crash was a PAC 750XL operated by Air Kasthamandap. It was delivered to the airline brand new in 2009. Accident The aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing. The pilot gave a warning to the passengers before landing in a field. The forward fuselage was reported to have been crushed. Crew and Passengers The victims were identified as First Officer Santosh Rana and Captain Dinesh Neupane. Rana was the son of Nepal's Minister of Land Reform and Management, CPN-UML central leader, and lawmaker Dal Bahadur Rana. Simikot Airport
Simikot is the administrative headquarters of Humla District of Karnali Zone in the mountain region of northwestern Nepal. Significance Lying at an altitude of just over 2,900m on a gentle slope high above the Humla Karnali River, Simikot lies on an ancient trade-cum-pilgrimage route to Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash is located in the Purang County of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, China, which borders Humla district of Nepal to the north. In the April 2015 Nepal earthquake, the popular Tatopani-Zhangmu route for the pilgrimage to Mount Kailash was badly damaged. In the aftermath of this earthquake the traffic for the annual pilgrimage to Mount Kailash shifted to Humla. Pilgrims would fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, and then from Nepalgunj to Simikot. Rara National Park is a protected area in the Himalayas of Nepal and was established in 1976. Covering an area of in the Mugu and Jumla districts, it is the country's smallest national park. Ramechhap Airport is a domestic airport serving the municipality of Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap District located in the Tamakoshi River valley in Bagmati Province in Nepal.
