Michael Lawrence Tyler (born September 22, 1970), better known by his stage name Mystikal, is an American rapper. Early life and education Tyler grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana's 12th Ward. His father, who ran a small neighborhood store, died when Tyler was seven. He attended Cohen High School and afterward joined the United States Army as a combat engineer. As an aspiring rapper, he opened for Run-DMC and Doug E. Fresh at an outdoor concert at the Treme Center. Leroy "Precise" Edwards, the house producer for Big Boy Records, was in the audience, and granted him a contract. The Medicine Men (or Beats by the Pound) are a New Orleans, Louisiana-based American music production team made up of KLC, Mo B. Dick, Craig B, Carlos Stephens, DJ Daryl, and O'Dell. The collective helped sell 30 million records for Master P's No Limit Records, from 1995 to 1999, as well the majority of releases from No Limit Records during the days it was distributed by Priority Records. They would later receive nomination for Producers of the Year and collectively be voted as one of Hip-Hop's "Thirty Most Powerful People" by The Source in 1999. "Make Em Say Uhh!" is the second single from Master P's 1997 studio album ''Ghetto D'', produced by KLC. The album was released in 1997, but the single was not released until January 1998 though Priority Records and Master P's No Limit Records. The song featured performers Fiend, Silkk The Shocker, Mia X and Mystikal. It reached #16 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, making it Master P's highest-charting single at the time (and later would tie with "I Got the Hook-Up!"). The single was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Music video The music video, directed by Michael Martin, took place on a basketball court, with Master P, the other performers, and members of Master P's No Limit crew dancing and playing basketball. He originally went under the stage name Silkk, but later adopted Silkk the Shocker after the release of his first album. Jive Records was an American independent record label founded by Clive Calder in 1981 as a subsidiary to the Zomba Group. In the US, the label had offices in New York City and Chicago.
