Aila is a female given name found in several different languages, pronounced as "eye-luh" or "ay-luh" depending on origin. It is the Finnish equivalent of Helga or Olga, meaning "bringer of light". Female (Venus symbol, symbol: ♀) is the sex of an organism that produces the large non-motile ovum, ova (egg cells), the type of gamete (sex cell) that fuses with the Sperm, male gamete during sexual reproduction. Aila Keto
Aila Inkeri Keto AO (born 14 March 1943) is founder and President of the Rainforest Conservation Society in Queensland, Australia, now known as the Australian Rainforest Conservation Society. In 2005, Keto was a recipient of the Queensland Greats Awards. Born in Tully, Queensland, Australia, to parents of Finnish origin, Dr Keto originally studied biochemistry and worked at the University of Queensland. In 1992 Keto received the IUCN Fred M. Packard Award in recognition of "outstanding service to protected and conserved areas" and in 1994 she was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for “service to conservation, particularly through promoting the protection and management of the wet tropical rainforests of Queensland”. Pururavas (Sanskrit: पुरूरवस्, ''Purūravas'') is a character in Hindu literature, a king who served as the first of the Lunar dynasty. According to the Vedas, he is a legendary entity associated with Surya (the sun) and Usha (the dawn), and is believed to reside in the middle region of the cosmos. Eddie Aila is a Papua New Guinean rugby footballer who represented Papua New Guinea at rugby league in the 2000 World Cup. Playing career Aila began his career playing rugby union before joining the Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Queensland Cup. Aila Winkler Main (born 29 July 1969) is a Croatian-American former professional tennis player. Raised in Zagreb, Winkler was introduced to the sport of tennis by her parents at the age nine, later travelling to Florida to train at Harry Hopman's academy. Winkler was ranked amongst the world's top-20 in the 18 and under age group. Aila Meriluoto (10 January 1924 – 21 October 2019) was a Finnish poet, writer and translator. Meriluoto was born in Pieksämäki, and published her first collection of poems, ''Lasimaalaus'' in age of 22. It was a success among critics and readers. She became the most celebrated and widely read female poet of post-war Finland. The central themes of her early poems are art and femininity. Her first collections reflect the influence of Austrian author Rainer Maria Rilke. In collection ''Pahat unet'' (1956) some of the poems have a free form. The next collection, ''Portaat'', came five years later, and there Meriluoto had found her own modern style of expression. Meriluoto lived in Sweden for 13 years. In 1974 she moved back to Finland, and the language of her poetry changed again to more close to a talking voice. In addition to poems, Meriluoto wrote novels, and books for young people. Aila Flöjt (born 22 September 1946) is a Finnish ski orienteering competitor. At the World Ski Orienteering Championships in 1975 she won a gold medal with the Finnish relay team, together with Raili Sallinen and Sinikka Kukkonen, and placed seventh in the individual contest. At the 1977 World Championships in Velingrad, Bulgaria, she won a gold medal in the relay, with Kaija Halonen and Sinikka Kukkonen, and placed fifth in the individual contest.
