Aibgha (village)
Aibga ( ka, აიბღა ; ab, А́ибӷа; russian: Аибга) is a village straddling the border between Abkhazia/Georgia (country), Georgia and Russia. Geography The village is located on both banks of the river Psou, at an altitude of 840 meters above sea level. The State border divides the village into two parts. Administrative Divisions Of Abkhazia
In Soviet times, the Abkhazian ASSR was divided into six ''raions'' (districts) named after their respective capitals. The administrative divisions of the disputed Republic of Abkhazia have stayed the same, with one exception: in 1995 the Tkvarcheli District was created around the town of Tkvarcheli from parts of the Ochamchira and Gali raions. The Georgian government, which claims Abkhazia as an Autonomous region but lacks control, has not changed the Soviet divisions. Districts of Abkhazia Districts are led by the Head of the Administration, who is simultaneously Mayor of the District's capital, except in the case of Sukhumi. Gagra District
Gagra District is a district of Abkhazia. It corresponds to the Georgian district by the same name. In medieval times, it was known as the southern part of Sadzen. It is located in the western part of Abkhazia, and the river Psou serves as a border with Krasnodar Krai of Russia. Its capital is Gagra, the town by the same name. The population of the ''Gagra town zone'' in 1989 was 77,079, but this number dropped dramatically following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the 1992-1993 war in Abkhazia, (including the ethnic cleansing of Georgians), to 37,002 at the time of the 2003 census. Ethnic Armenians now constitute a plurality in the district. Administration Grigori Enik was reappointed as Administration Head on 10 May 2001 following the March 2001 local elections. Psou
The Psou (; ady, Псыу; ka, ფსოუ; ab, Ҧсоу; russian: Псоу) is a river in the West Caucasus, bordering the Gagra Range to the east. It flows along the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range and forms a part of the border between Georgia ( Abkhazia) and Russia. Its source in the Aigra Mountain, and it flows into the Black Sea. The Psou is long, and the drainage basin is approximately .
