Ahmed Mohammed Khan
Ahmed Mohammed Khan (24 December 1926 – 27 August 2017) was an Indian footballer. He participated in the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics. He was also vice-captain of India from 1949 to 1954. Club career Khan played in the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics and figured for East Bengal from 1949 to 1959, and captained the team in 1954–55. He spent most of his club career in East Bengal. Khan was part of the team that played against German side Kickers Offenbach and FC Torpedo Moscow in 1953. In the same year, he went on to play for the team at the World Youth Festival in Bucharest, Romania. He netted one in their 6–1 victory against Lebanon XI. He was also one of the "Pancha Pandavas" of the club who, besides him, comprised legendary forwards Dhanraj, Appa Rao, Saleh and Venkatesh. They all helped East Bengal bag the prestigious IFA Shield, Calcutta Football League and Rovers Cup in 1949 and become the first Indian club to win the Durand Cup in 1951. Kickers Offenbach
Offenbacher Kickers, also known as Kickers Offenbach, is a German association football club in Offenbach am Main, Hesse. The club was founded on 27 May 1901 in the Rheinischer Hof restaurant by footballers who had left established local clubs including ''Melitia'', ''Teutonia'', ''Viktoria'', ''Germania'' and ''Neptun''. Balaidas Chatterjee
Balaidas Chatterjee (10 March 1900 – 1974) was a former Indian football player and was the first head coach the India national football team during the 1948 Summer Olympics. During his playing days, Chatterjee played for Mohun Bagan in various domestic competitions. On 29 July 2013, it was announced that Chatterjee would receive the Mohun Bagan Ratna posthumously for his achievements while at the club. Playing career Chatterjee was brought up and coached by legendary Dukhiram Majumder, founder of Aryans. He joined then Calcutta Football League side Mohun Bagan AC in 1921 and was part of the "golden era" of the club during British rule in India. The 1948 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XIV Olympiad and also known as London 1948) were an international multi-sport event held from 29 July to 14 August 1948 in London, England, United Kingdom. Bangalore Muslims Football Club was a professional football club based in Bangalore, Karnataka, that emerged as one of the strongest football teams during the 1930s, 40s and 50s. History Bangalore Muslims became the first Indian club to win Rovers Cup in 1937, the second oldest football tournament in India, defeating Mohammedan SC 1–0 in the final. The Rovers Cup was an annual football tournament held in India, organized by the Western India Football Association. It was the second oldest tournament in India after Durand Cup. History Rovers Cup was incorporated by some British football enthusiasts in Bombay, Bombay Presidency, in 1890, as a form of amusement. After the foundation of Bombay Football Association (BFA) in 1902, the tournament became well organized. Patronised by Justice Russell, the tournament was firstly opened to British teams. IFA Shield
The IFA Shield is an annual football competition organized by the Indian Football Association. The IFA is the governing body of football in the state of West Bengal, came into existence in 1893. Named after the association, the IFA Shield tournament was started in the same year.
