Agusan Del Norte Provincial Board
The Agusan del Norte Provincial Board is the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislature) of the Philippine province of Agusan del Norte. The members are elected via plurality-at-large voting: the province is divided into two districts, one sending one member and the other sending seven members to the provincial board; the electorate votes the number of seats allocated for their district, with the candidates with the highest number of votes (first in the first district and the first seven in the second) being elected. The vice governor is the ''ex officio'' presiding officer, and only votes to break ties. The vice governor is elected via the plurality voting system throughout the province. Buenavista, officially the Municipality of Buenavista ( ceb, Lungsod sa Buenavista; tgl, Bayan ng Buenavista), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Agusan del Norte, Philippines. It was said that during this year a group of nomadic Manobo from the frontiers of Agusan found an ideal place for their tempora-fishing retreat and rendezvous. Soon, the village of ''Tortosa'' was founded by two Christian pioneers, Innocentes Paler and Marcelo Dalaguida, who were later on joined by Luis Gupana and a handful of Manobo. Barangay elections in the Philippines were held on May 14, 2018. The election shall elect the '' Punong Barangay'', more commonly known as barangay captains, and members of the ''Sangguniang Barangay'', or barangay council, in 41,948 barangays (villages) throughout the country whose terms start on June 30, 2018. Barangays are the smallest local government unit in the Philippines. Elections for the reformed Sangguniang Kabataan (SK; youth councils) will also be held at the same time. This shall be the first SK elections since 2010. Originally scheduled for October 2016, these elections supposedly concluded the 2016 election cycle that started in May with the election of the Philippine president, the members of Philippine Congress and provincial, city and municipal officials. Local elections in the Philippines took place on May 9, 2022. These were conducted together with the 2022 general election for national positions. All elected positions above the barangay (village) level but below the regional level were disputed. Tubay, officially the Municipality of Tubay ( ceb, Lungsod sa Tubay; tgl, Bayan ng Tubay), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Agusan del Norte, Philippines. Santiago, officially the Municipality of Santiago ( ceb, Lungsod sa Santiago; tgl, Bayan ng Santiago), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Agusan del Norte, Philippines. History In the later part of 1898, a group of natives fleeing from the municipality of Jabonga settled in a place recognized by the municipality of Cabadbaran as barrio Santiago, However, in 1924 the Aciga River swelled its banks, destroying all properties, crops and animals along it.
