Agudat Sport Holon ( he, אגודת ספורט חולון), ''A.S. Holon'', lit. ''Holon Sports Association'' (or in short he, א.ס. חולון ''Aleph Samekh Holon'', lit. ''A.S. Holon'') is an Israeli football club which representing Jesse Cohen neighborhood in Holon. The club currently plays in Liga Bet South A division. History The club was founded in 1971 as Agudat Sport Lazarus Holon. The club started a progress after they won Liga Gimel Dan division in the 1976–77 season and finished runners-up in Liga Bet South A division in the 1977–78 season. Thus, they achieved two successive promotions and reached Liga Alef, the third tier of Israeli football. In 1980, the club changed their name to Maccabi Lazarus Holon and became the new Maccabi club of the city, after the club which was known as Maccabi Holon folded during the summer. Holon ( he, חוֹלוֹן ) is a city on the central coastal strip of Israel, south of Tel Aviv. Holon is part of the metropolitan Gush Dan area. In it had a population of . 1999–2000 Liga Alef
The 1999–2000 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Majd al-Krum (champions of the North Division) and Maccabi Ashkelon (champions of the South Division) winning the title and promotion to Liga Artzit. At the end of the season, Liga Artzit clubs, Beitar Tel Aviv and Shimshon Tel Aviv merged to form Beitar Shimshon Tel Aviv, and Hapoel Nir Ramat HaSharon were also promoted. Israel Football League System
The Israeli football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for club football in Israel. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, and allows even the smallest club to dream of rising to the very top of the system. The 2005–06 Liga Bet season saw Beitar Safed (champions of the North A division), Hapoel Ahva Haifa (champions of the North B division), Maccabi Amishav Petah Tikva (champions of the South A division) and Hapoel Maxim Lod (champions of the South B division) win their regional divisions and promoted to Liga Alef.
