Agnes Slott-Møller
Agnes Slott-Møller, née Rambusch (10 June 1862, in Nyboder – 11 June 1937, in Løgismose, Assens Municipality), was a Danish Symbolist painter; influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites. She is known for works inspired by Danish history and folklore. Her husband was the painter Harald Slott-Møller. Biography Her father, Jacob Heinrich Victor Rambusch (1825–1886), was a navy officer who was eventually promoted to Commander. Frederik Riise
Frederik Riise (8 December 1863 – 11 January 1933) was a Danish photographer and exhibition curator. He was a noted portrait photographer and is also remembered for his numerous photographs of buildings, streets and monuments in Copenhagen. Early life and education Riise was born on 8 December 1863 on Saint Thomas in the Danish West Indies, the son of pharmacist Albert Heinrich Riise (1810–82) and Henriette M. Worm (1821–89). He enrolled at the University of Copenhagen where he studied Zoology but discontinued his studies to take over his brother's photographic studio in Copenhagen. Photographic studio Riise's elder brother Harald Riise (17 October 1856 – 14 January 1892) trained as a photographer and travelled to Australia by way of London in circa 1881, settling in H Hobart where he opened a photographic studio in a partnership with Henry Walter Barnett.. Funen Painters
The Funen Painters or ''Fynboerne'' were a loose group of Denmark, Danish artists who formed an art colony on the island of Funen at the very beginning of the 20th century. They were strongly influenced by Kristian Zahrtmann who taught at the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler, Artists Studio School in Copenhagen from 1885 to 1908. Niels Ebbesen
Niels Ebbesen (1308 – 21 November 1340) was a Danish squire and national hero, known for his killing of Gerhard III, Count of Holstein-Rendsburg in 1340. From 1332 to 1340, Count Gerhard was the lord of both Jutland and Funen. His death meant the end of Holstein rule in Denmark. Biography Little is known of Ebbesen's background. He seems to have belonged to the Jutland gentry. Like many other of his class, he probably supported the Holstein occupiers during the years of chaos, but later turned against them and when Count Gerhard campaigned in Jutland in 1340, Ebbesen supported the Jutland guerrillas. On 1 April 1340, Ebbesen and 47 of his warriors entered Randers and hid until nightfall. They got into the Count's headquarters and entered his bedroom. They cut off the count's head over the end of the bed. Not wishing the act to be secret, Ebbesen's men beat a drum and shouted that the Count had been executed. The Eckersberg Medal (originally the ''Akademiets Aarsmedaille'' or Annual Academy Medal) is an annual award of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
