Agnes Ravatn
Agnes Ravatn (born 8 February 1983, in Ølen) is a Norwegian novelist, columnist and journalist. She debuted in 2007 with the novel ''Veke 53'' ('Week 53'). Ravatn is a columnist and journalist for Nynorsk newspaper ''Dag og Tid''. A series of essays for the publication were released in 2009 as ''Stillstand'' ('Standstill'). In 2011 came her second books of essays, "Folkelesnad", on Norwegian magazines. In 2013 she published the highly acclaimed novel "Fugletribunalet" ("The Bird Tribunal"), which has been released in eleven countries, including Great Britain, Germany and France. The novel has been adapted for theatre, and played for over two years at Det norske teatret. It is currently being made into a film. The English translation, by Rosie Hedger, was the first translated novel to be part of the «Fresh Talent»-program of booksellers WHSmith, and is nominated for the International Dublin Literary Award for 2018. Einar Økland (born 17 January 1940) is a Norwegian poet, playwright, essayist and children's writer. He was born in Sveio, and educated psychologist. Ølen
Ølen is a former municipality in the Vestlandet region of Norway. The municipality existed from 1916 until 2006, and originally it was a part of Hordaland county, but in 2002 it was transferred to Rogaland county prior to its dissolution in 2006. The municipality was located on the south side of the Bjoafjorden and east of the Ålfjorden. The administrative center of Ølen was the village of Ølensjøen. The municipality of Ølen makes up the northern part of the present-day Vindafjord Municipality in Rogaland county. History The parish of Ølen was established as a municipality on 1 July 1916 when it was split off from the large municipality of Fjelberg. Initially, Ølen had 1,715 residents. Sunnhordland
Sunnhordland is a traditional district in the western region of Norway. The district consists of the southern coastal regions of the old Hordaland county (now part of Vestland county). It includes the areas that surround the mouth of the Hardangerfjorden and the surrounding islands. The municipalities of Sveio, Etne, Stord, Bømlo, Fitjar, Kvinnherad, and Tysnes (and sometimes Austevoll) make up the district of Sunnhordaland. Valevåg
Valevåg is a village in Sveio municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern end of the Sveio peninsula, along the southern shore of the Hardangerfjorden. Historically, Valevåg was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Valestrand until it was merged into Sveio in 1964. Valen Chapel (built in 1707) is in the village of Valevåg, and just outside the village to the south is the much larger Valestrand Church (built in 1873). Transportation The village lies on the European route E39 highway, about north of the village of Førde.
