Agluona (Akmenė)
The Agluona is a river of Akmenė district municipality, Lithuania. It flows for 23.4 kilometres and has a basin area of 188 km². It is a left tributary of the Vadakstis river (the Venta River basin). It starts near Stipirkiai village and flows north-westwards. It meets the Vadakstis near Kesiai village, by the Latvian border. Kivyliai settlement is located by the Agluona, where the Kivyliai Reservoir is located (area ). Akmenė District Municipality
Akmenė District Municipality ( Lithuanian: Akmenės rajono savivaldybė) is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania. It lies in the Northwest of the country, with the administrative center in Naujoji Akmenė and borders Latvia in the north, Joniškis District in the east, Šiauliai District in the southeast, Telšiai District in the southwest, and Mažeikiai District in the west. The area of the municipality covers ca. 844 km² and is the 43rd largest municipality by total area in the country. Its population shrank from some 30,300 (2001 census) to 18,500 (2021 census) which is around 39% in decline. History Akmenė district with the center in the town of Akmenė was founded on June 20 in 1950 when the reform of territorial-administrative units was introduced to the Lithuanian SSR. Naujoji Akmenė
Naujoji Akmenė (; Samogitian: ''Naujuojė Akmenė'') is a new town that was established in 1952 and is one of the newest cities in Lithuania. Its name means ''New Akmenė''. It is an industrial base with concrete as its main product, with Public company ''Akmenės Cementas'' (English: ''Akmenė Concrete'') producing 700,000 tonnes of concrete annually. As a new city, it did initially have well-developed infrastructure. For example, a special branch of the railway had to be built for the factory needs. Venta River
The Venta (Latvian pronunciation , Lithuanian , , , Livonian ''Vǟnta joug'') is a river in north-western Lithuania and western Latvia. Its source is near Kuršėnai in the Lithuanian Šiauliai County. It flows into the Baltic Sea at Ventspils in Latvia. On the territory of Lithuania along the Venta are cities Užventis, Kuršėnai, Venta, Viekšniai and Mažeikiai.
