Agents Of Good Roots
Agents of Good Roots is an American rock band from Richmond, Virginia. The group formed in 1995 and toured heavily on college campuses in the middle of the decade. They independently released two records before signing to RCA Records, after which they toured with Dave Matthews Band and scored two rock radio hits, "Come on" and "Smiling Up the Frown". The band recorded a single music video, entitled "Come On (Let Your Blood Come Alive)", in 1998 that was paired with the release of their RCA album, ''One by One (Agents of Good Roots album), One by One''. It was played briefly on MTV during the summer months of 1998. The band went dormant in 2006, but reunited for several live shows in 2017, with plans to tour and record in 2018. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. ''One by One'' is an album by the American band Agents of Good Roots, released in 1998. It was the band's first album for a major label. The album's first single was "Smiling Up the Frown". "Come On" peaked at No. 37 on ''Billboards Modern Rock Tracks chart. ''One by One'' sold around 30,000 copies. The band supported it by touring with the Dave Matthews Band, and by playing the 1998 H.O.R.D.E. Festival. Production The album was produced by Paul Fox. It was recorded at A&M Studios, in Los Angeles; the band brought in outside musicians to help flesh out its sound. The raspy quality of singer Andrew Winn's voice was the result of a skiing accident that crushed his larynx. A jam band is a musical group whose concerts (and live albums) are characterized by lengthy improvisational "jams." These include extended musical improvisation over rhythmic grooves and chord patterns, and long sets of music which often cross genre boundaries. Most jam band sets will consist of variations on songs that have already been released as studio recordings.
