Against The Law (1950 Film)
''Against the Law'' ( it, Contro la legge) is a 1950 Italian crime film directed by Flavio Calzavara and starring Marcello Mastroianni, Fulvia Mammi and Renato Malavasi.Chiti & Poppi p. 105 The film's sets were designed by the art director Virgilio Marchi. Plot Marcello Curti is a young man who is part of a middle-class family. In spite of his appearances, however, he conducts trafficking in dirty money by acting as an intermediary between the large foreign mafia clans and his fellow villagers. During his usual bargaining, a fight breaks out between the two sides and the buyer of US dollars is fatally wounded by a gunshot. Immediately after the fight, the police are called and the killer manages to escape, leaving Curti alone with the body. The young man is therefore accused of manslaughter, and therefore begins a long series of interrogations administered by the police inspector and the sergeant. Attilio Dottesio (16 July 1909 – 12 February 1989) was an Italian film character actor and singer. He appeared in 170 films between 1940 and 1985. Born in Brescia, Dottesio began his career in France, where first he obtained some success as a pop singer and later debuted as an actor in the film ''The Pearls of the Crown'' directed by Sacha Guitry. Back in Italy, he attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, then he began an intense career as a character actor. His first Italian film was ''La peccatrice'' by Amleto Palermi (1940). In 1955, he had his only experience as a director, with the documentary film ''Amazzonia terra sconosciuta''. Orazio Costa
Orazio Costa (6 August 1911 – 14 November 1999) was an Italian theatre pedagogist and director. Born Orazio Costa Giovangigli in Rome, Costa graduated at the Silvio d’Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1937, and after being assistant director of Jacques Copeau, in 1945 he started a long career as theatre director. He directed over 170 stage works. He founded and directed from 1948 to 1954 the Piccolo Teatro of the City of Rome. Devoted to pedagogy, Costa was an acting teacher of the Silvio d’Amico Academy from 1944 to 1976. He then moved to Florence, where he collaborated with the Teatro della Pergola and further developed his educational system founding the "Centro di avviamento all' espressione funzionante" (Italian for "education center to functional expression"), active from 1979 to 1992. Gianfelice "Gianni" Bonagura (27 October 1925 – 8 October 2017) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Life and career Born in Milan, Bonagura was active on film, stage, television and radio. He appeared in 40 films between 1950 and 2001. He arrived at the threshold of a degree in philosophy, then in 1946 he abandoned his studies to attend the Silvio d'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts. Essentially a stage actor, Bonagura became popular in the second half of the fifties as a radio actor, protagonist of vignettes together with Nino Manfredi and Paolo Ferrari. In cinema and television, he was only used as a character actor, with the exception of the role of Dr. Watson in the 1968 RAI television series ''Sherlock Holmes''.
