Against Tha Grain
''Against the Grain'' is the fourth studio album by American rapper Kurupt and his first on Death Row Records as a solo artist. Kurupt signed back onto Death Row Records, except as a solo artist in 2002. The album was delay from its planned 2004 release and was released in August 2005. It was Death Row's first freshly recorded album in over four years. The album went almost unnoticed due to the lack of promotion by Koch Records, which distributes all of Death Row's albums. It was the final original album released by the label during its original run, before being revived with ''BODR'' by Snoop Dogg 17 years later. Production Certain tracks were removed and others added. The cut tracks were later released on a bootleg compilation titled ''Against tha Grain E.P.''. Death is the irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain an organism. Curtis Williams (born January 19, 1976), more commonly known as Spider Loc, is an American rapper and actor. He was formerly signed to Interscope Records and 50 Cent's G-Unit Records. Biography Spider Loc was discovered by Suge Knight and tagged along with Death Row Records, which appears on the Dysfunktional Family soundtrack, and Kurupt Against tha Grain under the name "Spider", but never signed an agreement. In September 2004 Spider Loc met rapper Young Buck in Atlanta and performed for him. A week later in Los Angeles, Young Buck introduced him to 50 Cent on the set of "Shorty Wanna Ride" video and he performed a freestyle rap. After four months the rapper signed a record deal with G-Unit. David Brown (born 1983), better known by his stage name Roscoe, is an American rapper. He released his debut album, ''Young Roscoe Philaphornia'', in 2003, with the album debuting at #148 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Career Roscoe was initially introduced to hip hop by his older brother Kurupt, who, at that time, was signed to Death Row Records and working on his debut album with Tha Dogg Pound, Dogg Food. The Dayton Family
The Dayton Family is an American hip hop group from Flint, Michigan, composed of Ira "Bootleg" Dorsey, Raheen "Shoestring" Peterson and Matt "Backstabba" Hinkle. Its name derives from Dayton Street, one of Flint's most crime-ridden streets. Musical career Early history (1993–2005) In 1993, Ira Dorsey and Raheen Peterson met through their younger brothers. The two began writing together, under the names Bootleg and Shoestring, and created their first song, "Dope Dayton Ave". Rapper Matt Hinkle soon joined the duo under the name Backstabba. The group began working with local producer Steve Pitts and formed The Dayton Family, named after Dayton Avenue, one of the most crime-ridden streets in their hometown of Flint, Michigan.
