Against Me! (2001 EP)
''Against Me!'', also known as ''The Acoustic EP'', is the second widely distributed release by the punk band Against Me!. No tracks on the album contain any electric instruments or drums, only acoustic guitars and an acoustic bass. The original vinyl version, released November 2001, had four tracks, and two extra songs were included on the CD version released in February 2003. Electric versions of several songs appeared on the band's debut full-length ''Against Me! Is Reinventing Axl Rose''. This EP was never officially titled. The words "Acoustic EP" do not appear anywhere on the album or in the liner notes. In a manner similar to that of the Beatles's ''White Album'', it is technically self-titled, but is nearly always referred to as The Acoustic EP, including on the band's official website. Against Me!
Against Me! is an American punk rock band formed in 1997 in Naples, Florida, by singer and guitarist Laura Jane Grace. That same year, Grace moved to Gainesville, Florida, which is considered the band's hometown. Since 2001, the band's lineup has also included guitarist James Bowman. After releasing three studio albums through independent record labels, Against Me! moved to Sire Records for 2007's '' New Wave'', which reached no. 57 on the ''Billboard'' 200. In 2011, the band launched the record label Total Treble. In 2012, Grace publicly came out as a transgender woman. After a long period of line-up changes and uncertainty surrounding the band's future, their sixth studio album, ''Transgender Dysphoria Blues,'' was released independently in January 2014 to critical and commercial acclaim. Laura Jane Grace (born Thomas James Gabel; November 8, 1980) is an American musician best known as the founder, lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the punk rock band Against Me!. In addition to Against Me!, Grace fronts the band Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers, a solo project she started in 2016. Grace is notable for being one of the first highly visible punk rock musicians to come out as transgender, after she publicly came out in May 2012. She released her debut solo studio album, ''Stay Alive'', in 2020. James Bowman (musician)
James Robert Bowman (born May 14, 1980) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the punk rock band Against Me!. Starting as a solo act in 1997, Against Me! eventually expanded into a quartet, having currently released seven studio albums. Biography Early life Bowman moved around frequently during his childhood, living briefly in Louisiana and Virginia. As a teenager, he lived in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he played in his first band, the $cam$. Although the $cam$ didn't get very much recognition outside of St. Petersburg, they did release a self-titled record, which can be found on the internet. Bowman is fairly shy and rarely talks about his childhood. He is the only child to a single mother, and has very little memory of his father, who died when James was aged two. The acoustic bass guitar (sometimes shortened to acoustic bass or initialized ABG) is a bass instrument with a hollow wooden body similar to, though usually larger than a steel-string acoustic guitar.
