Afzal Khan (general)
Afzal Khan (died 20 November 1659) was a general who served the Adil Shahi dynasty of Bijapur Sultanate in India. He played an important role in the southern expansion of the Bijapur Sultanate by subjugating the Nayaka chiefs who had taken control of the former Vijayanagara territory. In 1659, the Bijapur government sent Afzal Khan to subjugate Shivaji, a former vassal who had started acting independently. He was killed at a truce negotiation meeting with Shivaji, and his army was defeated at the Battle of Pratapgad. Victory over the Nayakas Amid the decline of the Vijayanagara Empire, the Bijapur government campaigned against the Nayaka chiefs who had taken control of the former Vijayanagara territory. One of these chiefs was Virabhadra, the Nayaka of Ikkeri. Afzal Khan (Urdu: افضل خان), better known as Jan Rambo, is a Pakistani actor, director, producer and comedian. He rose to fame by playing a janitor nicknamed ''Jan Rambo'' on PTV's famous comedy show ''Guest House'' (1991). He later assumed ''Jan Rambo'' as his unofficial screen name taken from the Sylvester Stallone character John Rambo. People on the TV stage set had nicknamed him ''Jan Rambo'' due to his striking resemblance to the Hollywood actor. Career Afzal Khan began his acting career from stage dramas in Islamabad. Mullah Shukrullah Shirazi (1570–1639), known by the royal title Afzal Khan'','' was a Mughal courtier during the reigns of Jahangir and Shah Jahan. He achieved fame as a scholar and rose to become Grand Vizier of the Mughal Empire. Early life Afzal Khan was born in Shiraz in Safavid Iran where his father was a petty revenue collector in Fars. Two of his father's brothers held financial positions in Iran, whilst two others were engaged in trade between Iran and India. Afzal Khan had a brother named Amanat Khan, who would later accompany him to India and become renowned for designing the calligraphic inscriptions on the Taj Mahal. Mohammed Afzal Khan, ( ur, محمد افضل خان; born 5 April 1958) is a Pakistani born British Labour Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manchester Gorton since 2017. He was formerly Lord Mayor of Manchester for the year 2005–2006, and served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for North West England from 2014 to 2017. Afzal Khan Khattak (, 1661 - 1747) was a Pashtun chief of the Khattak tribe, poet in Pashto, and author of ''Târikh-e morassa'' (The Bejeweled History). Early life He was the eldest son of Ashraf Khan (1044-1105/1635 to 1693–94). In 1083/1672-73 Ashraf succeeded his father Khushal Khan in the chieftaincy of the Khattak tribe, but in 1092/1681 he was betrayed into the hands of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb by his brother Bahram and died in captivity. Afzal Khan was arrested by the Mughals in 1098/1686-87 and taken to Kabul. Afzal Kahn is a British automotive designer and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Kahn group of companies: Kahn Design, the Chelsea Truck Company, Project Kahn and Flying Huntsman.
