AfterShock Comics
AfterShock Comics is an American comic book publisher founded in April 2015. AfterShock is described as a "hybrid comic book company combining the creative edge of an independent comic book publisher with the strengths and experience of a traditional powerhouse." Senior executives include Jawad Qureshi. In December 2022, AfterShock Comics filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. History The company was co-founded by Joe Pruett, editor of the noted comic anthology ''Negative Burn'' and Mike Marts, the former executive editor in charge of Marvel Comics' X-Men franchise and DC Comics' Batman franchise. Other co-founders include Lee Kramer, Jon Kramer, and Michael Richter. Other senior executives include Jawad Qureshi. AfterShock's published works are creator-owned and its portfolio includes comics by Cullen Bunn, Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, and Marguerite Bennett, among others. Joe Pruett
Joe Pruett (January 8, 1966) is an People of the United States, American comic book writer, editor, and publisher. Biography Pruett broke into the industry during the year of 1989 as Bob Burden's assistant on Flaming Carrot Comics, where he inked backgrounds, assisted on lettering, and transcribed scripts. He worked with Burden from issues #23-29. In 1992 Joe joined Gary Reed (comics), Gary Reed's Caliber Comics where he served through 1998 as a writer, an editor, and a creative director. While at Caliber, Joe's anthology title, ''Negative Burn'', was nominated for numerous Harvey Award, Harvey and Eisner Award, Eisner awards. In 1998 he left Caliber to become a freelance writer and became a regular contributor to Marvel Comics, Marvel's X-Men books. Sam Kieth (born January 11, 1963) is an American comics artist and writer, best known as the creator of ''The Maxx'' and ''Zero Girl''. John Layman
John Steele Layman (born August 2, 1969) is an American comic book writer and letterer. Layman is most known for writing ''Chew'', published by Image Comics. Career Once an editor for Wildstorm, a branch of DC Comics, Layman turned to writing comics full-time in 2002, mainly for Marvel Comics. Transgender
A transgender (often abbreviated as trans) person is someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Many transgender people experience dysphoria, which they seek to alleviate through transitioning, often adopting a different name and set of pronouns in the process. Additionally, they may undergo sex reassignment therapies such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery to more closely align their primary and secondary sex characteristics with their gender identity. Not all transgender people desire these treatments, however, and others may be unable to access them for financial or medical reasons.
