After Love (play)
''After Love'' (French: ''Après l'amour'') is a 1924 play by the French writers Henri Duvernois and Pierre Wolff. A 1926 translation under the title ''Embers'' was staged at the Henry Miller Theatre on Broadway with a cast that included Ilka Chase, Leonard Mudie and Laura Hope Crews. ''After Love'' (French: ''Après l'amour'') is a 1948 French drama film directed by Maurice Tourneur and starring Pierre Blanchar, Simone Renant and Giselle Pascal. The film is based on the 1924 play of the same title by Henri Duvernois and Pierre Wolff which has been adapted for the screen a number of times. Tourneur shot it in five weeks and came in under budget.Waldman p.167 It was the director's penultimate film, followed by ''Dilemma of Two Angels'' the same year. Léonce Joseph Perret (14 March 1880 – 12 August 1935) was a prolific and innovative French film actor, director and producer.The Museum of Modern Art(retrieved 7 June 2007) He also worked as a stage actor and director. Often described as avant-garde for his unorthodox directing methods, Léonce Perret introduced innovative camera, lighting and film scoring techniques to French cinema. Laura Hope Crews (December 12, 1879 – November 12, 1942) was an American actress who is best remembered today for her later work as a character actress in motion pictures of the 1930s. Her best-known film role was Aunt Pittypat in ''Gone with the Wind''. Early life Crews was the daughter of stage actress Angelena Lockwood and backstage carpenter John Thomas Crews.
