Afshin
Afshin ( fa, افشین / ''Afšīn'') is a common Persian given name, which is a modern Persian word derived from Avestan. Afshin was used by the Sogdians. Historically, it was the princely title of the rulers of Osrushana at the time of the Muslim conquest. The Afshins of Osrushana were an Iranian principality in Central Asia of whom the later Abbasid general Khaydhar ibn Kawus al-Afshin is the most famous. Etymology ''Afšīn'' is the Arabicized form of the Middle Persian ''Pišīn'', which traces back to the Avestan ''Pisinah''. Afshin Ghotbi ( fa, افشین قطبی, born 8 February 1964 in Tehran) is an Iranian-American football coach who works as head coach of Vancouver FC in the Canadian Premier League. Early life Afshin Ghotbi was born in Tehran. He is the son of a teacher in Iran with whom he left Iran at the age of 13 after his father remarried and moved to Los Angeles, where he has been a resident for more than two decades. ''Desert Dancer'' is a 2014 movie inspired by his life. Ghaffarian was portrayed by Reece Ritchie. Biography Ghaffarian started his art career in 1999, in Saba Art Center. Afshin Jafari ( fa, افشین جعفری), known by the mononym Afshin ( fa, افشین; born 6 May 1978), is an Iranian singer based in UAE. Afshin moved with his family when he was seven. Afshin Ellian (born 27 February 1966 in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian-Dutch professor of law, philosopher, poet, and critic of political Islam. Kay Kawad (also known as Kay Qobad, Avestan 𐬐𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬌 𐬐𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬁𐬙𐬀 Kauui Kauuāta) is a mythological figure of Iranian folklore and oral tradition. The 'Kay' stock epithet identifies Kawad as a Kayanian, a mythological dynasty that in tradition Kay Kawad was also the founder of.
