Maxim Sergeyevich Afinogenov (, ; born September 4, 1979) is a Russian former professional ice hockey player. Known for his skating speed, he was drafted by the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Buffalo Sabres in the third round, 69th overall, in 1997 and played nine seasons with the club. He then played one season with the Atlanta Thrashers before signing and finishing his career in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Personal life Afinogenov was first introduced to hockey by his dad when he was five years old. As a youth, he played in the 1993 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Moscow. He married Russian former professional tennis player, Elena Dementieva on July 16, 2011. Ekaterina Afinogenova (russian: Екатерина Афиногенова, born 15 January 1987) is a retired Russian female tennis player. Afinogenova has won one doubles title on the ITF tour in her career. On 8 October 2007, she reached her best singles ranking of 219. On 9 July 2007, she peaked at 273 in the doubles rankings. Afinogenova made her WTA main draw debut at the 2007 Istanbul Cup. Afinogenova played her last match in 2010, and officially retired from the sport in 2016. Alexander Nikolayevich Afinogenov (russian: Алекса́ндр Никола́евич Афиноге́нов) (, Skopin – 29 October 1941, Moscow) was a Russian and Soviet playwright. Biography Alexander was born in the town of Skopin, in Ryazan Oblast. He joined the CPSU in 1922. He obtained a degree in journalism in 1924, the year that he published his first play. In the 1920s he was a member and later director of the Proletkult's theatre. He turned away from the Proletkult in the late 1920s, and became in the early 1930s the chief drama theoretician of the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers. He wrote 26 plays, but he is best known for ''Fear'' (1931) and ''Mashenka'' (1941). His work was attacked in 1936 and he was expelled from the CPSU in 1937, but he was never purged, and was rehabilitated in 1938. He continued writing until his death in a German air raid in 1941.
