Aemilius Irving
Sir Æmilius Irving (February 4, 1823 – November 27, 1913) was a Canadians, Canadian lawyer and politician. Born in Leamington Spa, Leamington, England, son of The Hon. Jacob Æmilius Irving and Catherine, daughter of Jeremiah Homfray, Sir Jere Homfray, of Llandaff House. He was educated at Upper Canada College, became a barrister in 1849, and was created a Queen's Counsel in 1863. In 1851, he married Augusta Gugy, the daughter of Bartholomew Gugy, Bartholomew Conrad Augustus Gugy. He was a Liberal Party of Canada, Liberal Member of the House of Commons of Canada for Hamilton (electoral district), Hamilton in the 3rd Canadian Parliament. Irving served as clerk of the peace for Waterloo County, Ontario, Waterloo County and was List of Treasurers of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada from 1893 to 1913. Hamilton (electoral District)
Hamilton was a federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1904. It was located in the provinces and territories of Canada, province of Ontario and consisted of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Hamilton. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867. In 1872, it was assigned a second seat in the House of Commons so that it elected two Members of Parliament at each election. 3rd Canadian Parliament
The 3rd Canadian Parliament was in session from March 26, 1874, until August 17, 1878. The membership was set by the 1874 federal election on January 22, 1874. It was dissolved prior to the 1878 election. It was controlled by a Liberal Party majority under Prime Minister Alexander Mackenzie and the 2nd Canadian Ministry. The Official Opposition was the Conservative/Liberal-Conservative, first led by Sir John A. Macdonald. The Speaker was Timothy Warren Anglin. The ''Dictionary of Canadian Biography'' (''DCB''; french: Dictionnaire biographique du Canada) is a dictionary of biographical entries for individuals who have contributed to the history of Canada. The ''DCB'', which was initiated in 1959, is a collaboration between the University of Toronto and Laval University. Fifteen volumes have so far been published with more than 8,400 biographies of individuals who died or whose last known activity fell between the years 1000 and 1930. The entire print edition is online, along with some additional biographies to the year 2000.
