Ellen Alaküla
Ellen Alaküla (30 April 1927 – 15 January 2011) was an Estonian stage, radio, television, and film actress and theatre teacher whose career spanned over forty years. Early life and education Ellen Alaküla was born in Kohtla-Järve in Ida-Viru County to parents Rudolf Alaküla and Johanna Alaküla (''née'' Lukner). She was one of three siblings; having a brother and a sister. The family moved to Tallinn when she was young. Her father was a stage actor and sang in the church choir and her mother was a homemaker. Her father was later deported to Siberia by Soviet authorities, but was eventually allowed to return to Estonia. Alaküla attended schools in Tallinn; she graduating from secondary school at the Tallinn 5th School. In 1946 and began studying acting and theatre at the now defunct Estonian State Theatre Institute in Tallinn, graduating in 1949. Ülle Toming (born on 16 February 1955 in Tallinn) is an Estonian dancer, actress, singer and dance pedagogue. In 1973 she graduated from Tallinn Choreographic School. In 1983 she graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical Institute with a degree in cultural education and in 1999 received her master's in cultural history in 1999. Toming has worked as a lecturer at Tallinn University since 1983, and was a dance teacher at the Tallinn Ballet School from 1989 until 1999. 1973–1992 she worked at bar-varieties Tallinn and Viru Folk-show. Salme Reek (10 November 1907 – 9 June 1996) was an Estonian stage, film, radio, and television actress and stage director whose career spanned nearly seventy years; sixty-six of which were spent as an actress at the Estonian Drama Theatre. Early life and education Salme Helene Reek was the oldest of three siblings born to paper pulp factory worker Juhan Reek and housewife Julia Reek (''née'' Erberg) in Pärnu. Her younger siblings were Hilda (1911–1990), and Oskar (1922–1939) who died at age seventeen. During Reek's early years, the family lived in near-poverty in a one-room apartment on Suur-Kuke Street, later moving into a two-room studio apartment. Both of Reek's parents were keenly interested in music; her father Juhan played the piano and the harmonium and her mother Julia sang as a first soprano in the family's Lutheran church choir.
