Advisory Committee On Mathematics Education
The Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (ACME) is a British policy council for the Royal Society based in London, England. Founded in 2002 by the Royal Society and the Joint Mathematical Council, ACME analyzes mathematics education practices and provides advice on education policy. ACME is funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation (2002-2015) and the Department for Education. Members The committee chair is appointed for a three-year term. Joint Mathematical Council
The Joint Mathematical Council (JMC) of the United Kingdom was formed in 1963 to 'provide co-ordination between the Constituent Societies and generally to promote the advancement of mathematics and the improvement of the teaching of mathematics'. The JMC serves as a forum for discussion between societies and for making representations to government and other bodies and responses to their enquiries. It is concerned with all aspects of mathematics at all levels from primary to higher education. The Gatsby Charitable Foundation is an endowed grant-making trust, based in London, founded by David Sainsbury in 1967. The organisation is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts, set up to provide funding for charitable causes. Frank Kelly (mathematician)
__NOTOC__ Francis Patrick Kelly, CBE, FRS (born 28 December 1950) is Professor of the Mathematics of Systems at the Statistical Laboratory, University of Cambridge. He served as Master of Christ's College, Cambridge from 2006 to 2016. Kelly's research interests are in random processes, networks and optimisation, especially in very large-scale systems such as telecommunication or transportation networks. In the 1980s, he worked with colleagues in Cambridge and at British Telecom's Research Labs on Dynamic Alternative Routing in telephone networks, which was implemented in BT's main digital telephone network. He has also worked on the economic theory of pricing to congestion control and fair resource allocation in the internet. Martin Bridson
Martin Robert Bridson is a Manx mathematician. He is the Whitehead Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Oxford, and President of the Clay Mathematics Institute. He was previously Head of Oxford's Mathematical Institute. He is a Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford and an Honorary Fellow of Hertford College, Oxford. Catherine Lynne McClure (born 1952) is a British mathematics educator. In 2014 she was appointed as director of Cambridge Mathematics, a program at the University of Cambridge that spans the university's mathematics and education faculties, Cambridge Assessment, and the Cambridge University Press, and is aimed at developing a flexible tool to inform new mathematics curricula for primary and secondary mathematics education. Emma McCoy
Emma Joan McCoy is the Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education and a Professor of Statistics at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has acted as a mathematics subject expert for discussions on reform of the National Curriculum, and is a member of the Royal Statistical Society council. Education McCoy completed a PhD at Imperial College London in 1995 and a Master of Science degree in Computational Statistics in 1991 at the University of Bath. Dame Jilian Norma Matheson (born 27 March 1953) is the former National Statistician of the United Kingdom. Career Matheson joined the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys in 1975. Sir David John Spiegelhalter (born 16 August 1953) is a British statistician and a Fellow of Churchill College, Cambridge. From 2007 to 2018 he was Winton Professor of the Public Understanding of Risk in the Statistical Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. Spiegelhalter is an ISI highly cited researcher.
