Advance Together
Advance Together (often shortened to Advance) was a British political party. The party was led by Annabel Mullin, a former Liberal Democrats (UK), Liberal Democrat member and parliamentary candidate for Kensington (UK Parliament constituency), Kensington. It was registered with the Electoral Commission (United Kingdom), Electoral Commission on 22 February 2018. Party officials were named as Mullin (leader) and Peter Marshall (nominating officer). It formed an alliance with the Renew Party in late 2018, with Mullin joining the leadership team and for a time becoming leader of Renew. History The party was founded shortly after the Grenfell Tower fire, with aims for more accountability in the council. 2019 United Kingdom General Election
The 2019 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 12 December 2019. It resulted in the Conservative Party receiving a landslide majority of 80 seats. The Conservatives made a net gain of 48 seats and won 43.6% of the popular vote – the highest percentage for any party since 1979. Having failed to obtain a majority in the 2017 general election, the Conservative Party had faced prolonged parliamentary deadlock over Brexit while it governed in minority with the support of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). This situation led to the resignation of the Prime Minister, Theresa May, and the selection of Boris Johnson as Conservative leader and Prime Minister in July 2019. Our Future Our Choice (OFOC) was a British pro-European Union advocacy group for young people. History The Twitter account for OFOC was created 19 October 2017. OFOC was incorporated as a company on 19 February 2018. Its four founding members were Femi Oluwole (spokesman), Calum Millbank-Murphy (spokesman), Lara Spirit (co-president) and Will Dry (co-president). Activities OFOC heavily criticised the government's approach to negotiating Brexit. In July 2018 it protested outside Chequers during a cabinet summit, holding a banner which read 'Your Brexit Deal Screws Our Future: Explain Yourselves'.
