Advance Australia Party (2010)
The Advance Australia Party, formerly the Building Australia Party, was a minor political party in Australia, advocating the rights of the building industry. First registered in New South Wales, it achieved federal registration in June 2010, but was deregistered in May 2015. However, the party was still active for several years afterwards on a state level, sending out candidates for the New South Wales Hills Shire Council and Mayoral elections in 2017. The Advance Australia Party was deregistered on 13 August 2019. The party was founded out of discontent with state and federal governments that push regulations which the founders of the Building Australia Party believe hold back the Australian building and building design industry. Its policies are centred on the building industry and housing affordability, but also include supporting a nurse-to-patient ratio in NSW and encouraging environmental sustainability. The Division of Greenway is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. Greenway includes the Blacktown City Council in Sydney's west and northwestern suburbs. Greenway is a relatively diverse electorate, with a large Indian community and smaller immigrant communities of Filipino and Sri Lankan ancestry. The Advance Australia Party (AAP), founded in 1988 as the Rex Connor Labor Party, was a minor political party in Australia. It was a populist party founded on a platform of Australian nationalism. History The party was founded in 1988 by the son of former Whitlam Government Minister, Rex Connor, after leaving the Australian Labor Party. The party was formed in opposition to the embracing of social and economic liberalism by the Liberal and Labor parties. It was registered on 14 July 1989, but deregistered by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) on 5 December 2005 for failing to endorse a candidate in the previous four years. The Minor Party Alliance (MPA) is a collaborative undertaking of small Australian political parties, created by Glenn Druery's "Independent Liaison" business, which assists in organising preference meetings and negotiating preference flows between minor parties (often referred to as micro-parties) in Australia. The aim of the Alliance is the election of Alliance candidates to Australian upper houses based upon the accumulation of their primary votes and the registered "above-the-line" (or "group voting ticket") party preferences to reach an electoral quota. Glenn Druery is an Australian political strategist, electoral campaigner and ultra-distance cyclist. He has played a leading role in the electoral success of various micro and minor parties in Australia since the mid-1990s. 2011 New South Wales State Election
Elections to the 55th Parliament of New South Wales were held on Saturday, 26 March 2011. The 16-year-incumbent Labor Party government led by Premier Kristina Keneally was defeated in a landslide by the Liberal–National Coalition opposition led by Barry O'Farrell. Labor suffered a two-party swing of 16.4 points, the largest against a sitting government at any level in Australia since World War II.
