Adrienne Smith
Adrienne Mary Elise Smith Order of Australia, OAM (19 January 1934 – 20 February 2012) was a leading Australian sport administrator. She played a significant role in the establishment of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Australian Paralympic Federation in 1990. Personal She was born Adrienne Mary Elise Funda in Murwillumbah, New South Wales. She was the only child of Paul and Margery Funda. Smith’s early life was in Balmoral, New South Wales and she attended North Sydney Girls High School. In 1960, she married Roger Smith who was in the British Army and they had two daughters Nicola and Cecilia. Her marriage broke up after 12 years. After leaving the Australian Paralympic Federation in 1992, she brought a mango farm at Grassy Head, on the Mid North Coast, New South Wales. She worked as a volunteer at the local Stuarts Point and District Community and Yarrahapinni Festival. She died after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. The 1992 Winter Paralympics (french: Jeux paralympiques d'hiver de 1992) were the fifth Winter Paralympics. They were the first Winter Paralympics to be celebrated with the International Olympic Committee cooperation. They were also the first ever Paralympics or a Winter Parasports event held in France. They were held at the resort of Tignes as a support venue of the main host city Albertville, France, from 25 March to 1 April 1992. Urunga, New South Wales
Urunga is a small town located within the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, in Bellingen Shire. It is famous for its surf spots (reefs, beaches and mouth of two rivers). At the , Urunga had a population of 3,020. The town is south of Coffs Harbour and Sawtell and north of Nambucca Heads. The place name, ''Urunga'' (pronounced Yoo-run-ga), is derived from the Gumbaynggir word ''Yurūnga'' (pronounced Yu-roon-ga), which is derived from the word for long ''yurūn'' in reference to "long white sands". Michael John Milton, OAM (born 21 March 1973) is an Australian Paralympic skier, Paralympic cyclist and paratriathlete with one leg. With 6 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals he is the most successful Australian Paralympic athlete in the Winter Games. Personal Milton was born in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, on 21 March 1973. His left leg was amputated above the knee when he was nine years old due to bone cancer. He grew up into a skiing family, and after losing his leg he was determined to be able to ski again. Skiing Milton participated but did not win any medals at the 1988 Innsbruck Winter Paralympics. At the 1992 Tignes-Albertville Winter Paralympics, he won a gold medal in the men's slalom LW2 event, for which he received a Medal of the Order of Australia, and a silver medal in the men's Super-G LW2 event.
