Adrienne Lyle
Adrienne Lyle (born 2 January 1985 in Coupeville, Washington) is an American Olympic dressage rider. Representing the United States, she competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she finished 37th in the individual competition, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where she was won a silver medal in the team competition. After qualifying for the individual Grand Prix Freestyle at the 2020 Olympics she withdrew from the competition out of concern for her horse, Salvino. She also competed at the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France, where she achieved 4th place in team dressage. Coupeville, Washington
Coupeville is a town on Whidbey Island, in Island County, Washington, United States. It is the county seat of Island County. The population was 1,831 at the 2010 census. History Prior to European colonization, Coupeville and the bay in which it is located, Penn Cove, was inhabited by the Lower Skagit, a Lushootseed-speaking Coast Salish people. There were three villages around the bay, with the largest being ''bəc̓adᶻali'', meaning "snake place", located at the site of present day Coupeville. There was an abundance of salmon, clams, and other resources, as well as offering easy access to the water, making it an excellent village site. When Europeans arrived to explore the Puget Sound, it was Joseph Whidbey who first visited the bay, naming it Penn Cove in honor of his good friend. Individual Dressage At The 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games
The individual dressage at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy was held at Stade Michel d'Ornano from 25 to 29 August. Great Britain's Charlotte Dujardin won gold medal in both Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle while Helen Langehanenberg won silver medal in both events for Germany. The bronze in Special was won by Kristina Sprehe of Germany while the bronze in Freestyle went to Adelinde Cornelissen representing the Netherlands. Competition format The team and individual dressage competitions used the same results. Dressage had three phases. The first phase was the Grand Prix. Top 30 individuals advanced to the second phase, the Grand Prix Special where the first individual medals were awarded.
