Adrien Morillas
Adrien Morillas (born 30 May 1958) is a French former Superbike and Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He competed in the inaugural Superbike World Championship season in 1988, with French Superbike team - Kawasaki, winning one race at the Hungaroring. His best year in Grand Prix competition was in 1991 when he finished in eleventh place in the 500cc world championship. After his Grand Prix career, Morillas returned to compete in the Superbike World Championship from 1992 to 1995. He participated in the FIM Endurance World Championship in 1993 and 1994, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans both years. 1988 Superbike World Championship Season
The 1988 Superbike World Championship was the inaugural FIM Superbike World Championship season. The season started on 3 April at Donington Park and finished on 3 October at Manfeild Autocourse after 9 rounds. American Fred Merkel won the riders' championship and Honda won the manufacturers' championship. Race calendar and results The second Le Mans race was not held due to schedule issues. Championship standings For the first ever Superbike World Championship round at Donington Park, and for the only time in the championship's history, the race results were combined to determine an overall winner. For future weekends, it was decided to award half points for each race instead, although the original system was used again at Le Mans due to only one race being run. 24 Hours Of Le Mans (motorcycle Race)
The 24 Heures Motos (often called in English the 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race) is a motorcycle endurance race held annually since 1978 on the Bugatti Circuit, Le Mans, Sarthe, France. The race is organized by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and is part of the Endurance FIM World Championship. History When the Bol d'Or moved from Bugatti Circuit to Circuit Paul Ricard at the end of 1977, the ACO created the 24 Heures Moto. The race became one of "the classics" of endurance racing along with the 24 Hours of Liège, the 8 Hours Of Suzuka, and the Bol d'Or. At the end of 2001, the three 24 Hour classic races (Le Mans, Liège and the Bol d'Or) withdrew from the Endurance World Championship to create the Master of Endurance. FIM Endurance World Championship
The Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) is the premier worldwide endurance championship in motorcycle road racing. The championship season consists of a series of endurance races (with a duration of six, eight, twelve or twenty-four hours) held on permanent racing facilities. The results of each race are combined to determine three World Championships – riders, teams and manufacturers. The 1995 Superbike World Championship was the eighth FIM Superbike World Championship season. The season started on 7 May at Hockenheim and finished on 29 October at Phillip Island after 12 rounds. Carl Fogarty won the riders' championship with 13 victories and Ducati won the manufacturers' championship. Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. Superbike World Championship (also known as WorldSBK, SBK, World Superbike, WSB, or WSBK) is a silhouette-class road racing series based on heavily modified production motorcycles, also known as superbike racing.
