Adriana Prosenjak
Adriana Prosenjak (born 12 July 1963) is a Croatian former handball coach and player. Considered a legendary player and a celebrated name in Croatian handball, she was the goalkeeper and the first captain of the Croatia women's national handball team. She was named the best handball player in Croatia in 1993. Biography She was born on July 7, 1963, in Labin, Istria. She started playing at 10 for her hometown club ŽRK Rudar Labin, and went through all the selections at the Istrian club. With Labin's first team, she managed to get promoted to the Yugoslav First League. After playing for the ''swans'', she moved to ŽRK Lokomotiva Zagreb. At Lokomotiva she won the EHF European League and the last Yugoslav Championship before the dissolution of the country. She spent 11 years at Lokomotiva, where she also won a Croatian Championship and a Croatian Cup in 1992. Labin
Labin (Italian/Istriot: Albona) is a town in Istria, west Croatia, with a town population of 5,806 (2021) and 10,424 in the greater municipality (which also includes the small towns of Rabac and Vinež, as well as a number of smaller villages). History Labin developed from the site of the Roman settlement of Albona. Its name predates classical antiquity and is derived from Proto-Indo-European ''*alb-'' ("eminence", "hill"). ''Glas Istre'' () is a Croatian regional daily newspaper published in Pula which mainly covers stories of interest from the Istria region in the northwest of the country. Established in 1943 as a regional newsletter of the Yugoslav Partisans, the paper continued to be published after World War II, and became a daily in November 1969. The paper spent the majority of its later history as a regional supplement published in the Rijeka-based nationally circulated newspaper '' Novi list'', and between 1979 and 1991 the editor-in-chief of ''Novi list'' was also in charge of ''Glas Istre''. The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. IHF World Women's Handball Championship
The IHF Women's Handball World Championship has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1957. European teams have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winners are Russia and Norway with four titles each. Nine teams participated in the first championship, this number has grown in steps to 32 (from 2021). In 1977 a B-tournament was introduced and later in 1986 a C-tournament which served as qualification for the real championship or A-tournament. The Hrvatska nogometna liga () ( en, Croatian football league), also known as HNL or for sponsorship reasons the SuperSport HNL, is the top Croatian professional football league competition, established in 1992. Previously, it was called Prva Hrvatska nogometna liga (First Croatian Football League), but a league structure reorganization from 2022–23 led to name changes for the three top league levels. Overview The league was formed in 1991, following the dissolution of the Yugoslav First League, and is operated by the Croatian Football Federation. ŽRK Zamet
ŽRK Zamet (Ženski rukometni Klub Zamet) is a women's handball club from Rijeka, Croatia, formed in 1957. The club currently competes in the Croatian First League and the Croatian Handball Cup. History The club was founded in September 1957 as RK Partizan Zamet by Prof. Stanko Jerger, Josip Šarić and Vittorio Drog. On the initiative of Stanko Jerger, the women's team was made later. Until January 1985, the club was combined with RK Zamet. In 1962, the players of Partizan Zamet went to the quarter finals of the Yugoslav Cup where they lost 6:5 to Zagreb. The next year, they finished second in the Croatian championship and failed to qualify for the First League, being one point behind Partizan Bjelovar.
