Adrian Mora
Adrián Mora (born February 26, 1978) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2008. He held the IBA light welterweight title in 2007. Amateur career Mora had an amateur career of 62-8 and won a silver medal at the 2000 Western trials. He is the younger brother of both light welterweight contender Anthony Mora and boxing referee Russell Mora. Professional career In January 2007, Mora beat the American Aaron Drake to win the National Boxing Association light welterweight title. In May 2007, Mora beat Marc Thompson (15-1) in just the first round to win the IBA light welterweight title. This bout was held at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado. Welterweight is a weight class in combat sports. Originally the term "welterweight" was used only in boxing, but other combat sports like Muay Thai, taekwondo, and mixed martial arts also use it for their own weight division system to classify the opponents. Orthodox Stance
In combat sports such as boxing, an orthodox stance is one in which the boxer places their left foot farther in front of the right foot, thus having their weaker side closer to the opponent. Because it favors the stronger, dominant side (often the right side; see laterality), the orthodox stance is the most common stance in boxing and MMA. It is mostly used by right-handed boxers. Many boxing champions have fought in an orthodox stance. Alternative stances The corresponding designation for a left-handed boxer is southpaw and is generally a mirror image of the orthodox stance. Professional Boxer
Professional boxing, or prizefighting, is regulated, sanctioned boxing. Professional boxing bouts are fought for a purse that is divided between the boxers as determined by contract. Most professional bouts are supervised by a regulatory authority to guarantee the fighters' safety. Most high-profile bouts obtain the endorsement of a sanctioning body, which awards championship belts, establishes rules, and assigns its own judges and referees. Light welterweight, also known as junior welterweight or super lightweight, is a weight class in combat sports. Boxing Professional boxing In professional boxing, light welterweight is contested between the lightweight and welterweight divisions, in which boxers weigh above 61.2kg or 135 pounds and up to 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. The first champion of this weight class was Pinky Mitchell in 1946, though he was only awarded his championship by a vote of the readers of the ''Boxing Blade'' magazine. Javier Rogelio Jáuregui Delgadillo (September 5, 1973 – December 11, 2013), also known as ''El Chatito'', was a Mexican professional boxer in the lightweight (135 lb) division. Jáuregui was born on 5 September 1973 (in Guadalajara, Jalisco) and turned pro in 1988 at the age of 14. After 15 years, in 2003, he captured the Vacant IBF Lightweight Title with a TKO over Leavander Johnson. He lost the title in his first defense to Julio Díaz in 2004. He also handed future 2x lightweight world champion Jose Luis Castillo two TKO defeats.
