Adrian McDonnell
Adrian McDonnell (born 22 May 1959) is a Franco-American conductor in Greensboro, North Carolina. Life A laureate conductor of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, McDonnell began his musical studies with the violin at the age of 8. At 19 years old he was selected by competition for the position of apprentice conductor for the State of North Carolina, where he studied conducting with Sheldon Morgenstern and Peter Paul Fuchs, then with Richard Pittman at the New England Conservatory in Boston and with Pierre Dervaux in France. A former student of the Conservatoire de Paris in conducting, he also received the higher diploma in musical composition at the École Normale de Musique de Paris where he was a student of Michel Merlet. Since 1990, McDonnell has been artistic director and conductor of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris Orchestra. Lukas Foss
Lukas Foss (August 15, 1922 – February 1, 2009) was a German-American composer, pianist, and conductor. Career Born Lukas Fuchs in Berlin, Germany in 1922, Foss was soon recognized as a child prodigy. He began piano and theory lessons with Julius Goldstein erfordin Berlin at the age of six. His parents were Hilde (Schindler) and the philosopher and scholar Martin Foss. He moved with his family to Paris in 1933, where he studied piano with Lazare Lévy, composition with Noël Gallon, orchestration with Felix Wolfes, and flute with Marcel Moyse. In 1937 he moved with his parents and brother to the United States, where his father (on advice from the Quakers who had taken the family in upon arrival in Philadelphia) changed the family name to Foss. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, with Isabelle Vengerova (piano), Rosario Scalero (composition) and Fritz Reiner (conducting). Yves Prin (born 3 June 1933) is a French composer and conductor of classical music. Life Prin was born on 3 June 1933 in Sainte-Savine. He studied piano with Yves Nat and conducting with Louis Fourestier at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where he won several first prizes. He started his career as a pianist, but upon meeting Bruno Maderna (assistant at the Mozarteum, Salzburg from 1968 to 1969), decided to turn towards conducting. This association with the Italian maestro was the reason for his final decision to dedicate his work mostly to contemporary music.
