Adrian Foster (politician)
Adrian Foster is a Canadian politician who serves as the current mayor of Clarington. As mayor, he also sits on Durham Regional Council. Education Foster was educated at the University of Toronto Scarborough, where he studied psychology and French, and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1983. After graduating, he worked as a counsellor for developmentally disabled children and their families. He then worked as an investment advisor for 26 years. He also served as the President of the Clarington Board of Trade. He was awarded with the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. Political career Foster first entered politics upon being elected to Clarington's municipal council in 2003, defeating Suzanne Elston by just over 200 votes in Ward 1. Clarington Municipal Council
Clarington Municipal Council is the governing body of the municipality of Clarington, Ontario since 1993. There are 7 members on council, including the Mayor and local councillors. The current municipal body was established in 1974 when the Village of Newcastle merged with the town of Bowmanville and the townships of Clarke and Darlington, to form the town of Newcastle. In 1993, the municipality was renamed Clarington. In 1982, terms went from 2, to 3 years in length. Beginning in 2006, terms went from 3 years, to the current 4. Newcastle, Ontario
Newcastle is a community in the municipality of Clarington in Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. The community inherits the former name of the present-day municipality which it belongs to. Newcastle is located about 80 km east of Toronto, and about 18 km east of Oshawa and Bowmanville on Highway 401. It is also the southern terminus of Highway 35 and Highway 115. It has been named one of the best small towns in Ontario, by ''Comfort Life'', a website for retirement living in Canada. History Newcastle was incorporated as a town in 1856. It remained a small community until the 1990s, when new residential development began and the population quickly swelled. Newcastle had a jail in the late 1800s. Maps of Newcastle from those years have not been discovered. Many have tried to find the location of this jail, but it is believed that it was either demolished or destroyed by the elements. Lakeridge Health Bowmanville is a fully accredited hospital in Clarington, Ontario, Canada, servicing the municipality of Clarington. It is run by Lakeridge Health Corporation, part of the Central East Local Health Integration Network. The hospital was founded as Memorial Hospital Bowmanville in 1913. GO Train
GO Transit rail services are provided throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Erin O'Toole
Erin Michael O'Toole (born January 22, 1973) is a Canadian politician who has been the member of Parliament (MP) for Durham since 2012. A member of the Conservative Party, O'Toole served as the party's leader and the leader of the Official Opposition from 2020 to 2022. Born in Montreal, O'Toole grew up in Port Perry and Bowmanville. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1991 and studied at the Royal Military College (RMC) until 1995.
