Adrian John Baddeley (born May 25, 1955) is a statistical scientist working in the fields of spatial statistics,A. Baddeley, E. Stochastic Geometry
In mathematics, stochastic geometry is the study of random spatial patterns. At the heart of the subject lies the study of random point patterns. This leads to the theory of spatial point processes, hence notions of Palm conditioning, which extend to the more abstract setting of random measures. Models There are various models for point processes, typically based on but going beyond the classic homogeneous Poisson point process (the basic model for ''complete spatial randomness'') to find expressive models which allow effective statistical methods. The point pattern theory provides a major building block for generation of random object processes, allowing construction of elaborate random spatial patterns. The simplest version, the Boolean model, places a random compact object at each point of a Poisson point process. The Centenary Medal is an award which was created by the Australian Government in 2001. Georges Matheron Lectureship
The Georges Matheron Lecture Series is sponsored by the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG) to honor the legacy of the French engineer Georges François Paul Marie Matheron, known as the founder of geostatistics and a co-founder (together with Jean Serra) of mathematical morphology. The Georges Matheron Lecture is given by a scientist with proven research ability in the field of spatial statistics or mathematical morphology. It is presented annually if an eligible and worthy nominee is found. The first recipient of the award was Jean Serra, for a long time a scientists with theCentre of Mathematical Morphology, Fontainebleau Serra delivered the first lecture at the IAMG conference in Liège, Belgium in 2006. Point Pattern Analysis
Point pattern analysis (PPA) is the study of ''point patterns'', the spatial arrangements of points in space (usually 2-dimensional space). The simplest formulation is a set ''X'' = where ''D'', which can be called the 'study region,' is a subset of R''n'', a ''n''-dimensional Euclidean space. Description The easiest way to visualize a 2-D point pattern is a map of the locations, which is simply a scatterplot but with the provision that the axes are equally scaled. If D is not the boundary of the map then it should also be indicated. An empirical definition of D would be the convex hull of the points, or at least their bounding box, a matrix of the ranges of the coordinates.
