Adrenalize
''Adrenalize'' is the fifth studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released on 31 March 1992 through Mercury Records. It is the first album by the band recorded without guitarist Steve Clark who died in 1991 and the only one recorded as a four-member band. Spawning seven singles, four of them – " Let's Get Rocked", "Make Love Like a Man", " Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad", and " Stand Up (Kick Love into Motion)" – were major hits. "White Lightning" is dedicated to the memory of Clark, who has writing credits on six of the album's 10 tracks. Background Def Leppard had faced long delays, and the challenge of drummer Rick Allen losing his arm while making their previous album, Hysteria, and while trying to follow up the success, they also faced the prospect of doing so with a different producer, as Robert John "Mutt" Lange was already working with Bryan Adams. At the same time guitarist Steve Clark had been suffering from alcohol addiction since 1989, spending ...

Their second album, 1981's ''High 'n' Dry'', was produced by Mutt Lange, who helped them begin to define their melodic hard rock style, and the album's most popular track "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" became one of the first rock videos played on MTV in 1982, but the album only reached the Top 30 and 40 in the UK and US. It is Def Leppard's best-selling album to date, selling over 20 million copies worldwide, including 12 million in the US, and spawning seven hit singles. The album charted at number one on both the ''Billboard'' 200 and the UK Albums Chart. ''Hysteria'' was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. Retro Active
''Retro Active'' is a compilation album by the English rock band Def Leppard, released in 1993. The album features touched-up versions of B-sides and previously unreleased recordings from the band's recording sessions from 1984 to 1993. The album charted at number 9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart. Overview After releasing only five albums over the course of a twelve-year period, Def Leppard used ''Retro Active'' to break that habit, provide a treat for diehard fans, and close the door on the " Steve Clark" era of the band. Many of the tracks had previously been released as single B-sides. According to singer Joe Elliott, the concept behind the album was envisioned after the success of the "Two Steps Behind" single. The song had originally been demoed solely by Elliott as an electric version in 1989, and was subsequently recorded by the band as an acoustic ballad at the suggestion of guitarist Phil Collen. The song reached No. 3 on the Album Rock Tracks chart and No. 36 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in the United States. Background In a Joe Elliott statement on the ''Vault'' compilation album, he stated that this song was not about Def Leppard trying to be "MACHO", and were just trying to be funny about the content of this song. The statement only appears on the UK version of ''Vault'', as the track is not included on the American version. Elliott made a similar note in the album booklet for the later ''Best Of'' compilation, joking that "everyone thought we were turning into Manowar" and explaining that the band had come to terms with the then-recent death of guitarist Steve Clark on the album track "White Lightning" and wanted to have a lighter song on the album. Elliott once said that he would rather not play this song live any more as the lyrics " ...
