Adolfo Gregorio
Adolfo Sousa Gregorio (born October 1, 1982) is a former American soccer midfielder who formerly played for Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer. Gregorio was part of the original 1999 class at the Bradenton Academy, whereas part of the Under-17 United States national team. He played for his country at the 1999 Under-17 World Cup in New Zealand and also represented the U.S. on the Under-20 level. After playing college soccer at UCLA, where he helped the Bruins to the College Cup in 2002, Gregorio then briefly played alongside Jürgen Klinsmann for Orange County Blue Star in the USL Premier Development League. Gregorio was chosen by Colorado Rapids with the 15th pick of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. However, he elected to try his luck in Europe, signing with English club Darlington. Turlock, California
Turlock is a city in Stanislaus County, California, United States. Its estimated 2019 population of 73,631 made it the second-largest city in Stanislaus County after Modesto. History Founded on December 22, 1871, by prominent grain farmer John William Mitchell, the town consisted of a post office, a depot, a grain warehouse and a few other buildings. Mitchell declined the honor of having the town named for himself. The name "Turlock" was then chosen instead. The name is believed to originate from the Irish village Turlough. In October 1870, ''Harper's Weekly'' published an excerpt from English novelist James Payn's story ''Bred in the Bone'', which includes the mention of a town named "Turlough" (translated from Irish as "Turlock"). John Ellinger
John Ellinger (born October 4, 1951) is a former American soccer coach of the Under-17 United States men's national soccer team, and former head coach of Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer. Ellinger played collegiately at Frostburg State University, graduating in 1973. He also played club ball with the Washington Soccer Club at the start of his coaching career. After graduating from Frostburg State University, Ellinger taught physical education at Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring, MD, where he coached a number of sports, including soccer. During this time, Tony Stevens, President and Founder of the Olney Soccer Club, served as an early mentor for Ellinger, helping to expand his sophisticated understanding of the game. Ellinger also served as the varsity wrestling coach at John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, Maryland for the 1988-89 season. The 2004 MLS SuperDraft, held in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 16, 2004, was the fifth incarnation of the annual Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The draft was most notable at the time for the selection of one of the youngest athletes in American sporting history, Freddy Adu, with the first pick by D.C. United. The draft also included Clint Dempsey (1st round) and teenager Michael Bradley (4th round). The Colorado Rapids are an American professional soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area. The Rapids compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. USL League Two (USL2), formerly the Premier Development League (PDL), is a semi-professional developmental soccer league sponsored by United Soccer Leagues in the United States and Canada, forming part of the United States soccer league system.
